Social Media & Marketing Executive - Team Leader

Having worked in retail since the age of 13, all I knew in the world of work was fast-paced and stressful customer interactions. After working in cafes until the age of 21, it was a blessing in disguise that I lost my cafe job due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I found myself being able to release pent-up creativity and I started an eco-friendly gifts business whilst studying my full-time degree at the Open University in philosophy and psychology. It was whilst having this time to myself to explore and reflect that I found my passion for digital marketing and this is when I applied for my position working at Pure Breaks!

The company is very passionate and serious about operating sustainability, so when I saw the vacancy, I applied straight away as I feel that this is a matter that is never discussed within the travel industry, and I admired their efforts and determination. After a couple of months of working on Pure Breaks, I was promoted to team leader for the social media and marketing team. This was a huge confidence boost for me, and reinstated the words of the company on my first day, that they wish to support us and cultivate our potential.

I started working on the marketing strategy for Pure Breaks after a few weeks of working in the company, which I believe has turned out  to be a hugely valuable piece of work for myself to carry with me in the future! The strategy helped me to stay consistent when posting on the social media channels, which I believe to be paramount for a business’ social media.

Where did you spend your last holiday?

My last holiday was in Italy with my boyfriend. We both love Italy for its art history and architecture. We have a particular soft spot for Florence’s Duomo and the little rural town, Montecatini Terme.

Do you think tourism will harm the earth?

Definitely, if travelling selfishly. It’s important to do everything you can when travelling abroad to ensure that you are not leaving a detrimental carbon footprint. By mindfully travelling, enjoying local produce, supporting local businesses and helping out in the community you’ve chosen to stay at, you can make a positive difference! That’s what Pure Breaks advocates!
