I began my position as a Social Media & Digital Marketing intern at Pure Breaks in October 2020 after graduating from York St John University as a mature student with a first in Information Business Technologies. My role was part of a graduate programme created by the University. Once the programme had ended, I was offered a full time position with the title of “Product Content & Marketing Executive”. Prior to this, my work experience was entirely focused in the retail industry, face to face customer intercations. The business uses a simple but effective business model of using Cloud Technologies to store all their data and information so it’s available to all in the business.
Working remotely from home gave me invaluable experience with cloud technologies and project based work as my previous work experience was solely focused in retail. Experience with cloud technologies, project based work, website development, leading teams, creative writing and User Experience (UX) in terms of numerous branded websites furthered my own professional portfolio. More hard skills have been developed in reference to website development, User Experience, SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and Digital Marketing. Both front end and back end development of each website under the brand has been implemented, fully utilising my knowledge gained from university.
SEO is one of those facets of marketing that can be overlooked but it is an integral part of any marketing campaign or how a website performs through search engines. Access to amend, improve and alter the optimisation of each brand’s website has given me invaluable experience on how Google for example determines where the website is on their search page.
I have a passion for everything under the term “technology” with a need to be kept up to date with the latest tech in relation to hardware such as laptops or a mobile phone. However, travelling has always been a passion of mine ever since I made an extended trip to Australia back in 2015. This sparked a need to see the world and experience different cultures and people from varying backgrounds. You’ll often find me in a thick and dense forest, camera at hand knelt down trying to capture the tiny moments of wildlife or a droplet of water delicately falling from a leaf.
My motto is “it’s the little things in life”, and that corresponds to photography through only utilising a macro lens for all photos. Other hobbies include the gym, cars and whiling away hours sat relaxing with my cat on my lap watching some obscure film or documentary.

Japan! That was an easy answer for me and a destination that i’ve always been fascinated with as the culture, people and its history has piqued my interest from an early age. I vividly remember reading about samurais with the deep history of Shoguns and Ronin whilst at school. Later on I realised that my interest in cars is also deeply embedded into Japanese culture as the people have a huge car scene and fascination for modding vehicles.
I’ll round it down to one word again – Experience! The way travel gives you goosebumps when you get out of your comfort zone and the experiences you have in a different and completely unknown country, destination or setting. It builds confidence in yourself to overcome obstacles you might have both personally and professionally. The experiences you encounter from journeying to a place you’ve never or even thought of going, instills and creates long lasting memories.
