Rob Hill

Social Media & Marketing Executive

Rob is 20 years old, from North Devon. I enjoy cooking, music and working out. I love festivals and music events. I always have a load of tickets as I love having something to look forward to. For that exact reason I will be living in Bristol for the next year to experience all the great venues with my best friends. Afterwards I plan to travel the world and go to all the places I’ve always dreamed of exploring.

I studied Business at college and always found the Marketing modules drew my attention and interested me the most. After studying for a couple of years I left with a better understanding of what I wanted to pursue career wise. After leaving with a Double Distinction Merit, I started looking for jobs where I could use my new found knowledge and interest.

After working briefly as a face-to-face salesman and half a year as a Marketing Executive at a publishing company, I felt like I had learned a lot and took this experience with me to the Pure Breaks. Since gaining the job of Social Media & Marketing Executive I have been given many varying tasks, this is due to myself and others feeling that I can assist the business by implementing my other skills where they are needed. I hope to continue to show my capabilities whilst learning new things and bettering myself with the help of my great colleagues.

Where would you visit if you could travel anywhere in the world?

If I could travel anywhere in the world I would fly across the globe to New Zealand. However If I were to do so, I would never come back. Rolling green hills and beautiful nature. Endless surrounding ocean and incredible lakes. The enchanting snow covered peaks of the mountains. What’s not to love? Full of rich culture and amazing people I just know I will fall in love with the Island. To top it all off they have a world-class rugby team!

What was the most interesting country you have ever visited?

The most interesting country I have visited was South Africa. The reason it interested me so much was because of its wide variety of landscapes and it’s shockingly contrasting distribution of wealth. I started my trip in Sun City which is a wonderful luxury complex with hotels and casinos, however just down the road you can find mile after mile of shanty towns. Then down in the beautiful seaside city of cape town, where you can grab a delicious lobster dinner, then as you leave walk past countless homeless people. Then I arrived in Franschhoek, a stunning wine region surrounded by a spectacular mountain range.

I sat having lunch with my family as people bartered with live chickens on the side of the road, hoping to make enough money to feed their families. I felt very lucky to be in that position to explore the great country of South Africa, however I also came to realise that the only greatness came from the land. The rest was a sad reality of an extreme economic and social divide.
