A totally innovative concept in Mauritius, Lakaz Chamarel Exclusive Lodge, is a combination of Mauritian ecotourism and refinement. 10 minutes from the most beautiful beaches on the island, in the heart of the nature reserves, Chamarel was the dream location for the development of this luxury eco-lodge. The origin of everything that the traveller encounters is written within the story of Chamarel. Here is a place where you could one day put down your suitcase; a place where peace and serenity, calm and beauty, authenticity and harmony reigns, in simplicity and comfort.

This forgotten Southwest coast includes a multitude of authentic fishing villages. The west and southwest coast of Mauritius will offer you a completely different experience of the country. It is the sunniest and driest region of the island, with nature and landscapes that will remind you of the African savanna. Visit a nature reserve and discover many species, enjoy the sun on a magnificent beach or explore Mauritius in a different way. Whatever you choose to do, don’t miss the opportunity to visit its southwest coast.

Among many different attractions, the best attraction in the region is the 7 Coloured Earths, providing a unique experience to all nature and geology lovers. With its 600 million years of history, Chamarel 7 Coloured Earth is one spectacular geo-park destination located in the authentic village of Chamarel; it also includes a pretty waterfall nearby.

You may also enjoy an escapade to the Black River Gorges, covering almost 7,000 hectares, and home to 310 species of native trees, plants and flowers and endemic bird species. The sanctuary also includes many must-see sites such as the Piton de la Rivière Noire with an elevation of 828m making it the highest point in Mauritius. Experienced walkers will also find many trails. Or decide to explore the tea plantation of Mauritius at Bois Cheri, which is the first tea plantation in Mauritius, dating back to 1892. A guide will lead you through the factory and the tea plantation, which will help you to discover the history, stories and tales of the Bois Chéri and the importance of tea production in Mauritius.

You will end the visit with a tea tasting experience consisting of flavoured teas, green teas and herbal teas at the panoramic chalet whilst gazing over the fantastic views of the lake and tea plantations.
