The Boma Hotel Entebbe

The Boma is one of Entebbe’s most exclusive hotels. Encompassed by lush tropical gardens the hotel brings guests a sense of tranquillity even if it’s situated just a few minutes from Entebbe International Airport. Whilst staying at the hotel and enjoying the highest standard of hospitality, guests can rent a bicycle and venture out to explore the magnificent Entebbe Botanical Garden, full of wildlife including many species of birds, tortoises and vervet monkeys.

Apoka Safari Lodge

Situated in the remote Kidepo Valley National Park, The Apoka Safari Lodge offers guests unobstructed views of the surrounding grassy savannah. Make sure you bring a pair of binoculars so you can witness animals such as giraffes, elephants, buffalo and zebras who frequently pass by the lodge. The Apoka is the perfect base for anyone looking to observe the magnificent wildlife on the Kidepo Valley game drive. As you drive over the mountainous savannah you will see large herds of big game grazing and potentially migrating over the seemingly endless National Park. Guests can also enjoy watching a vast number of bird species that constantly fly around the area. If you would like to take in some of the local culture a tour of the Karamajong community can also be arranged.

Bakers Lodge

Located on the southern bank of the world famous Nile River in the Murchison Falls National Park, named after the English explorer Samuel Baker the lodge boasts ten luxury suites all with views of the tranquil river. On your first night in the lodge guests can enjoy an evening game drive. The benefit of doing the drive in the evening/night is that predators hunt at dusk.

This means you are more likely to see animals and their natural behaviour in the wild. Whilst staying at the lodge guests can also enjoy a boat cruise of the Victoria Nile (upper section of the Nile River). With stunning views of surrounding rainforest full with an array of bird and wildlife the cruise is a relaxing way to witness the beauty of Uganda. Hike up to the top of the Murchison Falls, also known as the Kabalega Falls, is the world’s most powerful waterfall that emits around 300 cubic metres of water per second. It is an astonishing sight for all visitors and is so powerful that its surroundings constantly tremble.

Kyaninga Lodge

Sat against the astonishing backdrop of Lake Kyaninga in Fort Portal the Kyaninga Lodge is a drop of luxury in the otherwise wild heart of Africa. Boasting astonishing views of Mount Rwenzori which is better known as the Mountains of the Moon. This is due to the indigenes people of Uganda naming it after its snow-capped whiteness. Whilst staying at the lodge you will be taken on a Crater lake walk by an experienced guide.

Here you can witness the beautiful natural landscape that was carved incredibly from ancient erupted volcanoes. The crater lakes are perfect for fishing, nature walks and bird watching with over 300 species of bird flying around the area. Guests can also take a trip to the biodiverse Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary for a nature walk. With its fascinating scenic beauty the 4.5km walk takes you through a trail of lush vegetation. Surrounded by a safe haven for hundreds of species of birds, 8 species of primates and many more mammals.

The adventure in Fort Portal doesn’t stop there. For an additional cost guests can experience a chimpanzee trek. Again following a highly experienced guide, trek through the lush vegetation until you come across the magnificent chimpanzee families who live amongst trees. Observe their playful behaviour for some time and then head back to the luxurious Kyaninga Lodge for a relaxing evening.

Semliki Safari Lodge

Being the only lodge in the Semuliki National Park the Semliki Safari Lodge provides guests with an unforgettable private Game viewing experience. Eight luxury canvas tents under thatched roofs provide a perfect stay for any guest looking to enjoy breath-taking panoramic views. During the day cruise around the Semuliki National Park on a game drive, again witnessing the magnificent animals Uganda has to offer. Located on the border of Uganda and the Congo is the giant Lake Albert. Although only the second largest of Uganda’s Great Lakes it is still 160km long and is surrounded by local fishing villages and wildlife reserves. Whilst staying at the lodge you can take a boat cruise down the lake to see wildlife, scenery and local village culture.

Kyambura Gorge Lodge

Surrounded by coffee plantations in the Southern Queen Elizabeth National Park sits the modern and stylish Kyambura Gorge Lodge. Once a coffee store and processing plant now stands eight rustic and elegant cottages that boast views over the National Park all the way to the distant Mountains of the Moon. Kyambura Gorge sits within the Kyambura Game Reserve. The reserve is home to a huge array of wildlife, including chimpanzees and many other magnificent primates. To witness their natural playful behaviour is just incredible.

Also within the Queen Elizabeth National Park is the Kazinga Channel. This is where guests of the lodge can enjoy a fascinating boat safari. However don’t be tempted to go for a dip as the Kazinga Channel is home to one of the worlds largest populations of hippos. Overall the Kyambura Gorge Lodge is the perfect stay for anyone looking to see the wild side of Uganda.

Ishasha Wilderness Camp

Situated just a car ride from Kyambura Gorge Lodge, the Ishasha Wilderness Camp offers guests a remote idyllic retreat in the unspoilt wilderness area of the Queen Elizabeth National Park. With beautiful views of the savannah woodland full of gorgeous tree species such as Fig, Coctus and Acacia trees. But most importantly whilst on a game drive of Ishasha make sure to keep an eye out for the big branches of Candelabra trees.

These trees are normally filled with prides of lions who use the elevated perch for many reasons. The big branches allow lions to hang out and relax. Being up in the trees allows them to get off the hot ground during the dry season. As well as serving as a spying site for prey that walk below. This incredible sight alone is a great reason why you can’t miss out on a trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge

Sat on a forested ridge of an ancient rainforest, the Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge boasts eight spacious luxury cottages. The Lodge is the perfect place to stay for anyone looking to venture out into the beautiful Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and surrounding areas. Set off on the Buniga Forest Trail where you will be immersed in the way of life of native Batwa pygmies. Their nomadic culture occupied the jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest until sadly in 1991 the forest was made a national park. Forced out the tribes people were left struggling with outside life, until they were given back the world heritage site where they now earn a living off tourism.

On another day guests can experience the calm waters of the stunningly picturesque Lake Mutanda. With crystal clear waters and fascinating views of the Virunga mountains and ancient volcanoes the lake is an idyllic setting for a hike or a boat cruise. If you fancy some exploration the lake also contains 15 small islands each giving you a different perspective of the magnificent surrounding scenery. Finally, following an experienced guide you can traverse the lush dense rainforest of Nkuringo. Surrounded by unique birds and wildlife the trek will allow you to really get in touch with mother nature, eventually coming across the fascinating Mountain Gorilla families.

Being able to observe these primates in their natural habitat is really a once in a life-time opportunity that many do not get the chance to experience. Then after a long day of trekking and witnessing beautiful wildlife, return to the comfort of the Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge to enjoy a delicious meal and a luxury room.
