Taking the time that 2020 gifted many of us, the team at Theva Residency have reflected on how they can take their holistic focus on the mind, body and soul further, in an effort to better not only your health, but the health of the planet.
Therefore, Team Theva have taken incredible steps to be the first meat-free boutique in Kandy! This is all in mind to bring you a delicious, healthy and environmentally-friendly meal.
The idea behind a stay at the Theva Residency is connection, to yourself, to the natural world and to others, and the incredible steps they have taken mean that connection extends out to the animal world in dedicated and meaningful ways.

Venture into nearby Kandy to discover the history all around you. Sri Dalada Maligawa, more commonly known as The Temple of the Tooth, is located in the heart of Kandy. It is one of themost revered temples in the country, attracting worshippers and other visitors from around the world.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sri Dalada Maligawa is known for holding a tooth relic from Lord Buddha, which is paraded through the streets of Kandy in a grand parade known as ‘Esala Perahera’ during the months of July and August.
About 5km west of the city of Kandy are the royal Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Renowned for its collection of orchids, among 4000 other species of plant, these gardens are a sight to behold. Dating back as far as 1371 and covering 147 acres, there is plenty of flora and fable to get stuck into.
Once reserved only for Kandyan royalty, this spectacle is now open to the public, so swan down the avenue of royal palm trees and enjoy a picnic under the giant Javan fig tree on the great lawn.
Every ingredient that goes into the beautiful cuisine at Theva Residency, from the vegetables to the spices, is locally sourced. Not only does this mean the food is as fresh as it is flavourful, but it also goes towards the hotel’s efforts to reduce their carbon emissions as much as possible.
Conscious of the importance of environmental protection and the current climate emergency, Theva Residency are on a mission to maintain their luxurious standards and beautiful ambience of relaxation while working towards being as environmentally friendly as possible. Their philosophy is to offer a place in which you can show compassion towards yourself, the environment, and animals.
