The chairman of Sanur Development Foundation, Ida Bagus Sidharta Putra, and his family were asked to stay in Sanur and develop the southern area of Klungkung. The chairman says that he has a moral responsibility towards Sanur’s development to be aligned with what the people want as well as the values growing along with the tourism industry. The Sanur tourism growth starts with the people who live there and it was born as it slowly evolved with time.

People in Sanur were involved in tourism in the beginning in a small scale says the Head of PHRI, as it started with homestay and staying in local residents’ houses to help avoid culture shock: this also allows them to follow foreign culture without needing to forget about their own culture. As the hotel developed, the owners provided the locals with jobs to work within the hotel as they helped the community by creating a workforce and in turn, boosting the tourism.
