Hotel del Parque

Hotel del Parque is located in a 19-acre historic tropical park that is part of the Guayaquil Peninsula. The restored 44-room colonial mansion, surrounded by rare orchids, endemic trees and endangered protected animals, is regularly recognised in its quest to be among the best eco-friendly hotels in the world. It was built in 1891 by a Guayaquil charity as the first metropolitan hospice built to provide shelter for the homeless and the elderly. The hospice almost fell into ruins before being saved from demolition by the Ecuadorian government. It was then moved plank by plank to its current location in the Parque Historico and meticulously restored to its heritage state. Today, the boutique hotel remains under local ownership and is part of the Oro Verde hotel business and Relais & Châteaux.

Here you can discover Guayaquil’s rich history and culture whilst enjoying Ecuadorian furnishings, impressive marble bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, and room service, plus minibars and full air conditioning. The hotel’s waterfront restaurant offers refined seafood, and the spa is found in the wood-beamed bell tower of the original restored chapel.

Hotel del Parque Ecuador

Hotel del Parque is set in a 19th-century Ecuadorian mansion, with stunning tropical surroundings. The boutique-style hotel is situated alongside the Daule River, in the affluent canto of Samborondón, just a short drive from the centre of Guayaquil. The hotel is named for the Parque Historico, situated just 400m away from the property, which comprises 8 hectares of lush greenery, historic buildings and a wildlife reserve.

Guayaquil, in full Santiago de Guayaquil, is the largest city and chief port of Ecuador. It is situated on the west bank of the Guayas River, 72 km upstream from the Gulf of Guayaquil which leads to the Pacific Ocean. The original Spanish settlement was founded in the 1530s at the mouth of the Babahoyo River (just east of the present site) by Sebastián de Belalcázar, a lieutenant of the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro. In 1537, the Spanish explorer Francisco de Orellana established the town at its present location, naming it Santiago de Guayaquil in honour of Santiago (St. James, on whose feast day it was founded) and, as legend has it, the local chief Guaya and his wife Quila. During the colonial era, the city was frequently attacked by buccaneers. In 1822 it was the scene of the conference between Simón Bolívar and José de San Martín, after which Bolívar emerged as the sole leader of the South American liberation movement.

Despite its idyllic setting, Hotel del Parque is in fact just a ten-minute drive from the airport. The city centre is accessible in around 15 minutes. The hotel offers airport transfers on request.
