Coffee & sweets, drinks, cocktails, bites and flavoured dishes are all available. Blues Restaurant overlooks the Caribbean Sea, with beautiful music in the background. There’s much to enjoy. From the lavish Caribbean kitchen to the atmospheric sunset, the sound of live music and the electric atmosphere. The food is hot, and the music is cool. Blues Restaurant on Curacao is open 6 days a week for dinner (closed on Tuesday) from 18:00 – 22:00. Live music on Thursdays. There are revised opening hours in low season.
Welcome to the oldest beach bar in Curacao. Resembling a wooden boat halfway submerged in the white sands of Avila’s beach. The Schooner Bar provides a quiet and atmospheric environment with which to enjoy a fine array of tropical refreshments and sumptuous bites throughout the day and into the night. Jan Thiel Beach is the place to be for those seeking sun, entertainment, shopping and fine cuisine. Spectacular white sand beaches are the optimum location to unwind with family and friends. A whole world of adventures await you, from coral reef diving, jet ski activities and beach tennis being some of the more popular activities. In the evening, the iconic Curacao nightlife awaits you, with vibrant bars and destinations situated close by.
Mermaid Boat Tours set sail from the southeast coast of Curacao to Klein Curacao (meaning Little Curacao in Dutch) that lies only 15 miles away. Here, pristine white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and vibrant sea life await you, along with some of the most striking sights of the Caribbean on route. Transit to Klein Curacao takes only two hours from Spanish Waters. The Mermaid, a robust sea-faring vessel, awaits passengers at the Fishermen’s Pier every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday mornings at 6:45am. Upon boarding the Mermaid, you are greeted with tea and coffee. Captain Cor and his crew create a great atmosphere that makes you feel welcome.
Sailing along the southern coat of Curacao, you can see Fuik, Duivelsklip and Oostpunt, a completely inaccessible region of Curaçao where access is restricted to aid in wildlife preservation. From there, the Mermaid turns southward and heads out into the blue sea, towards Klein Curacao. If you’re lucky, you might see the dolphins that occasionally swim beside the ship.
The sight of a lighthouse and an old shipwreck marks your arrival at Klein Curacao. Once the Mermaid drops anchor, you’re free to swim in tropical waters, explore the island and its many historical attractions and engage in various water-bound activities. Klein Curacao is a tropical paradise and a haven for snorkelers and scuba divers. Morning and afternoon rubber-dinghy drift diving provides the ultimate tropical diving experience, complete with striking coral formations, a vertical drop off and a couple of underwater caves to explore.
Aboard the Mermaid, conditions are clean and sanitary, including well maintained toilet facilities. After working up an appetite, a fantastic buffet lunch at the beach house awaits you, comprising chicken, pork chops, corn on the cob, salads and fruits, prepared to perfection. Beer, wine, juices and soft drinks are provided, though alcohol is charged at additional fees.
Sail with the Jonalisa to Klein Curacao, the paradise island with crystal clear water, white beaches and sea turtles. There are lots of activities for you to enjoy, everything from island treasure hunting, sunbathing and relaxing to Snorkelling and coral reef explorations – perfect for avid scuba divers! The conclusion of the day’s excursion is followed by a leisurely sail back to Curacao, with the chance to enjoy some on-board beverages along the way. A visit to Shete Boka National Park is a must for all visitors of Curacao. Why? This stunning natural park spans over 200 hectares of undisturbed natural wilderness, with a pristine coastline stretching an incredible ten kilometres. The coastline consists of seven bays (which is the translation of Shete Boka) where sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. Several hiking trails lead you along some of the most stunning and atmospheric areas of the park, including the natural bridge of Curacao or Boka Tabla – a cave that’s half submerged within the sea, where waves can be seen crashing in.
For all guests seeking a unique, aquatic underwater adventure, the Blue Room is a must visit. The entrance to this hidden cave is located slightly below sea level, meaning you will have to swim underwater to enter. Upon entry, the blue water reflects the sunlight on the walls and ceiling – a true sight to behold. It is recommended to bring snorkel gear because of the fairy-tale-like underwater world that exists within. To get to the Blue Room you can hike, canoe, or take a water taxi.
The peak of Christoffel Mountain marks the highest point in Curacao, marking 372-metres above sea level, you can actually climb it all the way to the top. This elevated vantage offers stunning views of the surrounding national park. On clear days, the whole of Curacao is visible. The Christoffel Mountain is located in a natural park which provides a colourful and diverse environment, especially when climbing up or going down the mountain. This activity is not recommended for individuals who have difficulties walking, as this is no ordinary hike. It is strongly recommended to start the climb early in the morning as temperatures soar in the afternoon. Robust hiking shoes and boots are recommended.
