Boutique by The Museo is located in Mérida, the capital city of the Yucatán Province in Mexico. Originally founded by Spanish conquistadors in 1542, much of the colonial architecture is still visible today through the buildings in the town. A quaint historic district includes beautiful cathedrals and buildings, which were built with stones from the Mayan ruins. Filled with history and steeped in culture, Mérida has twice served as the American Capital of Culture, once in 2000 and more recently in 2017. In the very heart of Mérida, guests of Boutique by The Museo can enjoy exploring all the art galleries, museums, and history Mérida has to offer from their doorstep.

Deluxe Boutique Room

The Deluxe Boutique Rooms at Boutique by The Museo are bright and colourful. Modern furnishings blend seamlessly with patterned tiles and stone floors to create a luxurious and comfortable boutique room. These rooms come complete with one bedroom, which includes a double bed, covered with crisp bed linen and adorned with plush pillows. The room includes an ensuite bathroom which includes a deep bathtub. Fresh breezes fill the room through wide doors and windows, and natural light reflects off the white walls, creating a bright and clean space.

Deluxe Boutique Suite

Perfect for smaller families, the Deluxe Boutique Suite comes with two bedrooms and one bathroom. Decorated in the same elegant and colourful manner as the deluxe boutique rooms, the suite is full of bright, natural light and features wooden doors open to the courtyard which allows fresh breezes to fill the room. A small living area offers the perfect space for families to relax after a long day, and the dining area with a full-size fridge allows for private dining.

Grand Boutique Suite

The Grand Boutique Suite is ideal for larger families or a group of friends staying together. The suite is made up of 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 modern bathrooms. The beds are all covered in crisp white bed linens and come complete with plush pillows; the suite is full of light which fills the room through wide windows and reflects off high ceilings. The living room offers guests the perfect place to unwind and relax as a family after a long day, and the dining room – complete with full-size fridge – offers the perfect space to enjoy an evening of private dining.

Penthouse Suite

For an exclusive and luxurious stay, guests can stay in the Penthouse Suite. The very height of boutique luxury, this suite comes complete with 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 private bathrooms. The suite is decorated with colourful patterned tiles and modern furnishings, creating a clean yet character-filled suite. With a private entrance, guests can be assured of exclusivity, and a private terrace includes a sunken lounge which offers outstanding views of the colourful surrounding gardens and the Palacio Canton. A private living room and dining room allows guests to spend the evenings as they wish, enjoying a spot of dinner before unwinding and reflecting on their day in the lounge.

Guests can head to the communal dining area for their meals. Dinner will be an event to remember, with delicious Mexican cuisine available, with a variety of vegan and gluten-free options. Enjoy a gastronomical cooking class experience by partaking in one of the Yucatecan cooking classes led by a friendly and talented chef at the hotel. Begin the class by taking a trip to the market to purchase your fresh ingredients, then return to the hotel and begin cooking. Once your five-course meal is finished enjoy tucking into it with a seasonal fruit drink, glass of wine, or refreshing beer.

Tours

There are many tours which can be arranged for an extra price ahead of schedule for guests who wish to get out and explore the exciting towns and nature which surrounds Boutique by The Museo. Explore the local Mayan ruins of Valladolid, an ancient city, and the nearby ruined city of Ek Balam. Head to the quieter seaside fishing village of Celestún for a day spent on the beautiful beach, and an opportunity to see flamingos.

For the history buffs, a trip to the nearby Archaeological Park of Chichén Itzá can be arranged. Spend the day exploring the ancient Mayan ruins and being educated on a lost way of life. Other historical days out can be spent by visiting Izmal – or the City of Hills – which is argued by some to be the oldest city in Yucatán, or by visiting the UNESCO Heritage Site Uxmal, which is another ancient Mayan city.

The local communities are supported in various ways through Boutique by The Museo. All tours offered are booked through local tour guides, which empower and protect native voices and history. An emphasis on green spaces is visible at Boutique, with the addition of gardens and rooftop gardens for guests’ enjoyment. When guests arrive at the Boutique they will be provided with information regarding the local ecosystems and the local heritage and culture, in an effort to promote cultural appreciation and understanding. A portion of all revenue is invested in local community projects, and the Boutique also offers a platform for local artists to display their work.

Eco Friendly

An active effort is made by Boutique by The Museo to reduce their usage of single-use plastic, single-use straws, stirrers, cutlery, water bottles and plastic cups are not used – instead, the hotel favours reusable alternatives. Windows are double-glazed, LED light bulbs are used, and food is locally sourced and organic wherever possible. Recycling bins are available for both guests and staff to use, to promote recycling and reduction of waste, and the Boutique offsets a portion of their carbon footprint.
