Casas del XVI is a collection of fourteen rooms set over seven private houses, and guests in each room have access to a private chef, butler and concierge. Guests can either choose to stay in one of the Luxury Rooms, or one of the hotel’s houses for ultimate privacy. Luxury Rooms offer guests a king-sized bed, set in a beautifully designed room which blends modern and antique features seamlessly. The bathroom includes a standalone roll-top bath, and the room comes with all modern amenities, and each room has a unique and artistic design.
All seven of the Casas del XVI’s houses blend the ancient and modern aspects of Santo Domingo together to create a stunning and rich atmosphere. In the House of the Well centuries old structures of the house remain, including beautiful exposed-brick archways breaking up each room, and the ancient well that remains in the courtyard. With wonderful art and pops of colour all around, this six bedroom house with pool and central patio, has the capacity to host 16 people for the perfect private getaway.
Another gem of the seven private houses of the Casas del XVI is the Tree House, originally the home of the architect who carried out vital restoration work on the Colonial City neighbourhood of Santo Domingo. In warm colours and rich tones the design of this house is inspired by the mango tree standing tall in the garden. The house has four bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, a dining area, living area and courtyard garden, with a capacity for 10 people.
Dating back to the Colonial Spanish era this house is designed in a classical tropical style, with antique furniture, tiled floors and wonderful local art. Enjoy dinner out on the patio by the light of the pool, and lounge in the wonderful living room. With three bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, this house can host six people for the perfect Dominican getaway.
The Designer’s House is a tribute to the fantastic fashion designers of the Dominican Republic, and through its doors you can be transported to the 16th century in the elegance, history and privacy of your own private casa. The house sits within the old garden walls of the Dominican Convent, and has a spacious terrace, tropical patio, pool and sun loungers, with two bedrooms and maximum capacity for six people.
Inspired by rich Dominican folklore and art, this house has a colourful interior and peaceful courtyard with a plunge pool and outdoor seating area. Pieces of modern local art are dotted all over the house, with three bedrooms, all ensuite, with a maximum capacity of six people.
Casas del XVI’s Antillana House is a tribute to Caribbean tropical design, designed to create the feel of your own private island. The beautiful garden is centred around the grape tree that grows tall over the garden walls, covering the pool in dappled shade. The house has three bedrooms, all with en suites, a living room, dining room and outdoor dining area, with the capacity to host eight people.
Built in the early 20th century, this beautiful neoclassical house is the perfect setting for any kind of event. The whole house has been designed with the inspiration of its own polychrome stained glass windows. With a large patio and fabulous marble staircase, this house is the perfect setting for a wonderful celebration.
