Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa is situated on the Southern coast of Sri Lanka, perched on the edge of the beach with a shelter of palm trees separating the resort from the foaming waves of the Indian Ocean. The beach stretches a kilometre in length and is safe for swimming and surfing, with plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. Guests can easily travel from Weligama Bay to see the amazing marine life at Mirissa, and take the bus or train to the famous and historical Galle Fort in the west.

Guests can reach Weligama Bay Marriott Resort and Spa by flying to Colombo Airport and taking a road transfer to the resort which will take approximately 2 hours.

Guest Room

The Guest Rooms at Weligama Bay Marriott Resort and Spa all face towards the ocean with a balcony overlooking the palm trees, golden sand and shimmering water. Guests can choose between a king-size bed or two twins, and relax in a spacious room with plenty of light. A comfortable day bed rests alongside the giant windows, offering the perfect backdrop for curling up with a book during the evening before going out for dinner. The rooms include a large desk space where guests can plan the day’s activities, a flat-screen TV and a private en-suite bathroom, as well as stylish rugs and wall art to create a homely atmosphere.

Ocean View Suite

The Ocean View Suites are modern and luxurious, with plush king-size beds fitted with soft linen and extra pillows to guarantee a comfortable night’s sleep. Ceiling fans help to maintain the perfect temperature, and both the living room and bedroom feature wall-length glass sliding doors that offer sweeping views of the Indian Ocean and the beautiful bay below.

The bedroom includes a small seating area and coffee table, as well as ample space for moving around, and the living area offers a cosy sofa area and dining table. Both rooms include a flat-screen TV, for keeping guests entertained after a day of swimming, surfing and exploring, and access to the extended balcony, where guests can sit out and enjoy the views with a refreshing beverage. Galle Dutch Fort

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Galle Dutch Fort demonstrates the culture and colonial heritage of Galle. The fort was originally built by Portuguese settlers during the 16th century, before being claimed by the Dutch and later the British. Galle is a romantic and old town, where historical architecture can be admired. Once a trading post for spices, the fort is now a historical site. Surfing

Weligama Bay is safe for both swimming and surfing and is a popular destination for water-lovers during the high season. Guests can visit one of a number of surfing schools in the area, including Surf n’ Lanka, Freedom Surf School or Surfmakers and learn about riding the waves.

Yala National Park

Take an exciting trip to Yala National Park and see amazing creatures including leopards, elephants, sloth bears, sambars, jackals, spotted deer, peacocks, and crocodiles. Spanning over 130,000 hectares of protected forests, grasslands and lagoons, Yala National Park is home to a wealth of amazing mammals, reptiles, amphibians and over 215 species of bird.

Whale Watching

Venture to Mirissa beach and scan the blue horizon for sperm whales and spinner dolphins. Between December and March, travellers may be able to catch sight of a blue whale – the largest mammal in the world – as they migrate along the coast.
