A bespoke hotel repurposed from Madagascar’s first bank, guests can expect an exceptional and private stay, with four beautifully furnished rooms each with their own characterising features. The Madagascan sun bounces off the red roofs of the nearby Faravohitra Cathedral and Analakely’s market stalls, with the renowned Independence Avenue also being a short stroll away. Unwind in the choice of indoor and outdoor lounges or the hotel’s lush garden veranda, cosy up and read in the library, or swim laps in the invigorating heated swimming pool.

Maison Galliéni, BP, Madagascar

Maison Galliéni is ideally situated on top of the Faravohitra hill overlooking the town below. The hotel is close to the historic Faravohitra Cathedral and overlooks the red-roofed market stalls of Analakely below. The famous Independence Avenue shopping street and a host of restaurants, lounges, clubs and bars are also nearby, so guests are never too far from Antananarivo’s bustling nightlife.

Antananarivo, or its shorthand ‘Tana’, is Madagascar’s largest and capital city. The city is located in the centre of the island and 1200 metres above sea level, encompassing three intersecting mountain ridges which are ideal for hiking. History is all around, with remnants of the French colonial era and ancient Malgasy palaces to be explored. A cultural melting pot, the city is full of bustling markets and has a vibrant nightlife, featuring live music and a host of clubs and bars.

Monaco

This modern and airy double en-suite bedroom on Maison Galliéni’s ground floor features tasteful exposed brickwork and tall French doors, which open out onto the hotel’s serene heated swimming pool. All four bedrooms have air-conditioning and internet access, as well as a flat screen TV and safe.

Tana

This ground floor bedroom features chic wooden accents, and a spacious and bright en-suite bathroom with a luxurious walk-in shower. All four bedrooms have air-conditioning and internet access, as well as tea and coffee making facilities, a flat screen TV and safe.

Fara

Independently situated at the back of the hotel, Fara is a breezy and peaceful double bedroom with wooden panelling and tall doors leading out to the hotel’s garden terrace. The en-suite bathroom features a dual basin sink and like the others, this room has air-conditioning and internet access, as well as tea and coffee making facilities, a flat screen TV and safe.

Galliéni

The only room on the first floor, the elegantly decorated Galliéni room has an indulgent four poster double bed and plenty of space to spread out in. The stylish room has splashes of regal purple throughout and the large en-suite bathroom features dual sinks and a lavish Italian bathtub. As with the other four bedrooms, Galliéni has air-conditioning and internet access, as well as tea and coffee making facilities, a flat screen TV and safe.

Breakfast is provided by the hotel’s dedicated and creative inhouse chef, and is served in the dining room or on Maison Galliéni’s terrace. Delectable meals catering for any palette are also available for lunch and dinner for an additional fee. Each room comes equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and with the exception of fresh fruit juice, all soft drinks are free of charge.

Inside Maison Galliéni’s historic walls, guests can cosy up in the elegant library or unwind inside the commodious lounge, complete with a crackling fireplace. Relax in the tranquil terrace garden or outdoor lounge, perfect for watching Malagasy sunsets from atop the hill. The gentle lapping of the hotel’s serene pool makes for perfect ambiance, and its inviting heated waters are ready for swimming no matter the climate.

Maison Galliéni’s building has been sustainably transformed from its original purpose and is made from natural materials such as brick, wood and stone.

The hotel aims to conserve water and electricity, using ecological light sources and recycled rainwater throughout the building.
