The island resort has introduced glass bottles to guests and staff in an effort to combat plastic pollution. Glass bottles can be reused and refilled at the desalination plant that is on-site and eliminates the need for single-use plastic alternatives that harm the delicate reef and ecosystem.

Food Sustainability

The island resort has its own on-site herb garden and they have made this a part of the experience when staying at Kanuhura. Here, guests can witness rescue turtles being rehabilitated and see baby turtles being cared for before being ultimately returned back to the waters. During this trip guests will learn more about the life of these critically endangered creatures and once back at the resort, guests can dive to the reefs themselves to see the work of the sanctuary and its effects.

Eco-Friendly Toiletries

The resort’s luxury toiletries in the villas are all eco-friendly and have glass packaging and reusable pumps attached to them, eliminating excess waste.

Water Desalination Plant

The resort has its very own water desalination plant on site to filter seawater through osmosis, making it safe for consumption. It allows the resort to not have to rely on the local community’s water supply and water is also put directly into the reusable glass bottles for guests.
