Manta Trust and Maldives Manta Ray Project

The island works with the manta trust as manta rays are now on the endangered list. The initiative collects data on their patters and numbers to keep track of how many are in the Maldives.

Coral Planting initiative

The island resort has a coral regeneration programme in place and guests are welcomed to support this initiative by ‘adopting’ a reef of their own. They are then invited to plant the coral on the seabed and can watch it grow over the years. Broken pieces of coral are harvested after being damaged by fish or waves and marine biologists attach it to a “coral frame”.

After a month or so this coral starts to grow and attach to the frame and over a few years the entire frame is covered in coral, able to then provide food and shelter to marine life.

Children over the age of 9 are welcome at the resort
