Sandy Lane is an intimate and secluded restaurant exclusive to those staying in the Privilege Rooms. The sand-floored grill is placed on the edge of the luminescent swimming pool and cooks wonderfully fresh seafood ready to be served to you on a platter. Barbecue options are also available, as well as Veranda Resorts’ signature dishes.
Foot Loose is an outdoor, sand-floored bar perfect for sheltering from that midday sun. The in-house mixologist will create any divine cocktail of your choosing to help you cool off in the shade. It’s not just for an afternoon treat, however, as live music brings the bar to life as the sun starts to dip below the horizon.
Exclusive to the guests of the Privilege Rooms and situated between the pool and the beach, the Sandy Lane Bar is an enthralling spot in which to sip a cocktail. Whether you to choose to sit in a chaise on the deck, in a rattan chair poolside, or even in the pool itself, what won’t change is the quality of your drink or your sense of relaxation. Be sure to dip in at sunset as the sky becomes a deep orange, making for a sublime view over the sea.
On those days when you fancy getting your feet wet, you’ll find that there are plenty of ways to do that. In addition to the hotel’s three swimming pools (one main pool, one kid’s pool and one exclusive pool for the Privilege Rooms guests), there is the option of Aqua Zumba, a fantastic way to both get in the pool and stay fit. There is also waterpolo, for those more inclined towards sports, as well as snorkelling if you want to get up close and personal with the waters.
Kayaks are also available, but if you fancy something a little more relaxing, take a pedal boat and explore at your own pace. Alternatively, feel the wind – and the water – in your face as you attempt some stand-up paddle-boarding, an offshoot of traditional surfing.
The best part? All these activities are free with your stay.
Activities:
- Three swimming pools
- Aqua Zumba
- Water Polo
- Snorkeling
- Kayaking
- Pedal boating
- Stand-up paddle
Sometimes you’re just not feeling the water. Instead, there are plenty of activities for you to do on land which are also completely free of charge. For example, perhaps you need to keep your Darts skills up in preparation for that pub tournament back home. Beach Volleyball and Tennis Volleyball are also available, allowing you stay fit and active during your stay with Veranda Resorts. Table Tennis is an option if you fancy something a little more smaller in scale, along with Pétanque for something a bit more quiet and relaxing.
There is also an air-conditioned fitness room, and if you do just want a beach day, a free shuttle to the nearby Trou aux Biches Beach runs 5 times a week.

The Seven Colours Wellness Lounge embodies simplicity and charm. The lounge overlooks the white, sandy beach, complete with a completely natural version of the wave sounds often heard in wellness centres. The treatments are inspired by the philosophy of Chakras, built around the balance of the energies and colours that animate us as people. As a result, each and every treatment is fully customised to suit you. Featuring 2 Spa treatment rooms, 1 Spa treatment kiosk and nail care services, the lounge is open daily from 9am too 8pm and can be booked for an extra cost.
Hotel rooms at Veranda Resorts are equipped with a shower but not equipped with a bathtub. This is because baths require a large volume of hot water, the equivalent of 3 to 4 showers for a single bath. In addition, guests are encouraged to keep their towels and sheets for the duration of their stay. Within our hotels we have implemented water reduction devices in the water points and the wastewater used to water the plants is treated directly at the hotel, as well as rainwater harvesting.
Food left over from the buffets is redistributed to families in need through a collaboration with a local NGO, Foodwise Mauritius. In 2019, nearly 800kg of food was redistributed to families who needed it. Food suppliers are based on their environmental and social commitment and eco-friendly products are given priority during our purchasing process. Single-use plastic packaging is used as little as possible with the majority of fruits, vegetables and other food offered to our customers coming from a local source.
Beach clean-up campaigns are regularly conducted by hotel employees and the partnership with local NGOs such as FoodWise Mauritius or Lacase Lespwar allows families in need to receive food donations or social work done for vulnerable people.
Veranda Resorts are going into energy-saving mode. Low-energy lighting systems have been installed at the hotels to save energy and in addition, solar panels have been fitted to take advantage of the daily sunlight in Mauritius to produce natural, non-polluting energy. Systems have also been installed that automatically turn off the electricity as soon as the guests leave their room.
All recyclable waste (paper, PET plastic containers, metals) is sent to recycling companies by Veranda Resorts’ waste management company. In order to avoid the use of plastic, water is bottled in-house using glass and in order to reduce the use of paper, electronic pay-slips are given to the staff as opposed to physical ones.
The plants found in the gardens at Veranda Resorts, some of which endemic, are chosen to help preserve them and are grown solely with natural fertilisers, with little to no use of chemicals. Moreover, souvenirs are only made from sustainable materials and not from threatened or protected plant species. Eco-responsible activities are also proposed by the hotels in order to educate the guests customers on the preservation of the Mauritian fauna and flora.
