Spend an afternoon swimming in the warm waters of the sea or paddling in the shallows, or book a boat cruise to explore the coastline of Paternoster and beyond. Kayaking is available from some of the beaches, where you can explore the waters at your own pace, and maybe even get to see the penguin colonies nearby. Whale and dolphin watching is also exceptional here from July to December.

Beach Activities

As the sun is setting, stroll gently along the sandy beach, feeling the sand between your toes as you enjoy the sun setting over the glistening horizon, bathing the beach in golden and warm tones. For the adventure seeker, beach buggy trips can be arranged where you can whiz across the sand, exploring the beach.

Village activities

There are many activities which guests can enjoy in Paternoster. Spend a day meandering through the village, meeting the locals, browsing the art gallery and curio shops, and buying some souvenirs from the local craft market. Many hiking trails start in the village, and will take you exploring around the West Coast, or guests can arrange a mountain biking trip or even a day spent horse riding. With two national parks close by, West Coast National Park and West Coast Fossil Park, there are no ends to what you can explore.

West Coast Kids

Strandloper Ocean Boutique Hotel has partnered with West Coast Kids, which is an organisation which helps disadvantaged children out of poverty. With unemployment high in rural fishing villages, West Coast Kids help the local children gain an education to help better their future employment opportunities in a way which empowers them. Being a local and small operation, West Coast Kids know all the children on an individual level and therefore can tailor the help they provide to offer the most useful help to each individual child. They partake in education projects, environmental projects, and health projects to empower and educate, and to create a better future for the local children.

In Harmony With Nature

Strandloper Ocean Boutique Hotel understands the importance of protecting the beautiful environment which surrounds them and so takes active measures to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Some such measures include having and managing their own vegetable garden, not using pesticides, having energy-efficient appliances, and providing bath products that are handmade and use natural ingredients with African origins. The gardens which are planted around the hotel are indigenous, allowing watering to be kept to a minimum. Solar panels provide all the hot water to the hotel, and they have their own owl hotel, which attracts owls and bats to the area which in turn manages rodents and insects in a natural way.
