Botswana is a beautiful country that offers endless array of wonders and wildlife. Embark on a captivating 9 day adventure that takes you to two of Botswana’s most precious destinations, the glorious Selinda Reserve and the iconic Okavango Delta.

The Selinda Reserve is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife regions, the 130,000 hectares reserve boasts elephants by the thousands and also regular sightings of African wild dog. The Okavango Delta is one of a very few large inland delta systems without an outlet to the sea. The delta is home to 164 mammal species, 157 reptile and 540 bird species. Duba Plains Private Reserve

Immerse yourself in an adventure at beautiful Duba Plains Private Reserve. Set in the heart of Okavango Delta, the reserve prides itself with its extraordinary wildlife and was chosen as the home of National Geographic filmmakers Dereck and Beverly Joubert due to these huge volumes of wildlife. The concession spans 77,000 acres of reserve land and is home to a stunning range of game and predators including elephants, buffalo, zebras, lions, leopards, and many more. The beautiful landscape varies from marshes, floodplains and waterways to lush grasslands, scattered trees and dense woodlands. During the dry season, the floodplains turn to dry land, where antelope and zebras can roam and graze. Adventure out and experience private wildlife sightings, with the opportunity to observe areas full of elephants hippos who love to plunge into the water of cool river.

Selinda Reserve

On the next leg of your journey, you will fly over to Selinda Reserve. Don’t forget to grab your binoculars to view the magnificent Botswana wildlife below. Embark on a guided walk accompanied by an experienced guide to allow you to observe the incredible animals up close. The reserve is spread across 129,500 hectares comprising of the Selinda Spillway. Set out on game drives and view huge crowds of elephant and buffalo that gather across the banks of the spillway. During the dry season wildlife interactions are at its best, during the rainy season the reserve attracts an array of birdlife, a perfect time to enjoy birdwatching. The remoteness of this area is only broken by the wandering animals, including the famous Selinda Lion pride, thousands of elephants, African wild dog, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, hippo and many more.

Okavango Delta

In the Okavango Delta, savour your last days and enjoy the golden grassed floodplains and everything they provide. Botswana’s magnificent Okavango Delta is situated within the boundaries of the Moremi Game Reserve and exists as the world’s largest inland delta, exhibiting a labyrinth of deep lagoons, large lakes and hidden, meandering channels covering an area of over 16,000 square km in flood and shrinking to less than 9,000 square km during the dry season. Trapped in the parched Kalahari sands, the fresh water oasis attracts a variety of wildlife that depends on the permanent waters of this unique wilderness. Embark on game drives which are remote and secluded giving you all the opportunity to the Big Five. There is not other experience like the Okavango Delta.

Boating

Seasonally available at Duba Plains Camp is boating, this is due to the nature of the delta’s water levels, but can usually be enjoyed between May and October – and is a highly recommended activity. Explore some of the larger channels of water as you glide through the sparkling matrix of waterways. This excursion will leave you with a true appreciation of the size of the delta, and also offers great opportunities for photography. Keep your eyes peeled to the banks where you may see wading birds, or a pod of lazy hippos lounging, visible only by their heads poking out the surface.

Guided Walks

The moment you leave the camp you will find yourself in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Immerse yourself in the surroundings and explore the extraordinary landscapes on your own two feet. With no engine noises you can appreciate the silence of the bushveld, and can reach places the safari cruise cannot reach. Walks are led by trained guides who will keep you at a safe distance from any animals at all times. Your guides can teach you to recognise different animal tracks. Early morning or late afternoon walks are advised to avoid the heat of the day.

Fishing

Spend the afternoon unwinding on a relaxing fishing trip on the Okavango Delta’s waterways with a trained guide. Reel in bream, bass, and tigerfish. Fishing is on a strict catch-and-release basis, and is temporarily suspended in January and February.

Game Drives

Duba Plains Camp has their own specially designed safari vehicles which are designed to travel across the wetlands of the Okavango Delta. Bring the camera provided in your tent for this experience, and try to capture the perfect shot. Choose the time of your game drive to suit your wishes, head out in the morning to experience the bush waking up, head out for a full day for maximum game viewing, or head out in the evening for the nocturnal species waking up for the night.

After breakfast, you will embark on a game drive to Omdop Airstrip where a scheduled flight will be waiting to fly you to Selinda airstrip. Discover full adventures at Selinda Reserve during your 2 night stay at Zarafa Camp.

Enjoy a twice daily game drive conducted in an open 4×4 safari vehicle view herds of elephant and buffalo along with giraffes, lions, zebras and more. Explore the reserve on foot by embarking on a guided walk, a perfect way to discover all things big or small. Game Drives

Day and night game drives are available to you while you stay [ here ], and you can travel around the area in the comfort of a custom built Land Rover with a detachable roof. Keep your eyes peeled for lions, elephants, buffalos, and herds of zebras. This is one of the best ways to see animals undisturbed and in their natural habitats.

Guided Walks

Set out on foot to explore the Selina Reserve and truly immerse yourself in the pristine nature. Explore areas not reachable by vehicle with an armed and trained guide, and make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to place yourself in the heart of nature. Observe animals from a safe distance and learn about the micro-ecosystems of the diverse landscape.

Boating

Guests can cruise along the lagoon on HMS Zibadianja, a large pontoon boat complete with comfortable sofas and a table and chairs. Brunch and sunset cruises are available giving guests the perfect opportunity to feel at peace on the water whilst looking out for hippos and elephants. Due to the combination of habitats in the Selinda Reserve there is a variety of birdlife with slaty egrets, coucal and African fish eagles all possible sightings.

Following breakfast, you will embark on a game drive to Selinda Airstrip where a scheduled charter flight will be waiting to fly you over to Chitabe Airstrip. Upon arrival you will be transferred to Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge.

Game Drives

Participate in game drives while you stay at Sandibe. No two game drives are the same, and journeying through a different part of the Okavango Delta is bound to bring you a different experience. Thriving game populations make for spectacular wildlife viewing, with the Big 5 present in the delta, as well as herds of zebras in the distance, wild dogs and hyenas stalking the land, and giraffes poking their heads through the treetops.

Mokoro Excursions

When the water levels are high enough, spend the afternoon gliding along the sparkling waters of the delta. Your private guide is experienced in mokoro excursions and will row you through the tranquil channels. Take deep breaths and truly immerse yourself in your stunning surroundings, as you drift peacefully along – there is no other experience quite like it.

Guided Walks

There is no better way to immerse yourself in the delta than on your own two feet. Head out with an experienced and friendly guide and explore the biodiverse landscapes. Remember to bring your camera as you may get the perfect shot of animals in the distance, or a friendly wild dog peering at you through the bushveld. Your guide will be able to take you to all the best viewing spots while maintaining a safe distance from the animals. Prepare to feel fully immersed, with scents of wild flora and sounds of animals in the distance and the breeze through the trees filling your senses.

Bird Watching

The Moremi Game Reserve – where the Okavango Delta is located – is home to over 450 species of idigenous birds which fill the air with their calls. Birding here is spectacular, especially during the spring and summer. Some of the rarer avian species include the elusive Pel’s fishing owl, endangered wattled crane and the majestic African fish eagle.

You will embark on a short game drive to Chitabe airstrip where a scheduled flight will be waiting to fly you to Maun International Airport.

Most visits to Botswana involve flights on light aircraft with limited baggage space. Luggage is usually limited to a total of 20 kgs per person including hand luggage and one small, soft-sided bag as hold luggage.

Neutral bush colours of green and khaki are recommended to wear when on safari and wearing layers allows you to remain comfortable as conditions change throughout the day.
