InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa, Bora-Bora, French Polynesia

Bora Bora is a small island in the Leeward Islands that make up the western portion of the Society Islands in French Polynesia. Bora Bora has one big main island and is surrounded by Motu’s (or islets), all amongst stunning reefs. InterContinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso Spa can be found on the eastern islet Motu Piti Aau and is accessible only by boat.

The resort’s location is ideal for boat transfers to the mainland or to the airport for as little time as 20 minutes. If you wish to pay the mainland a visit, the resort offers transfers to their sister resort Le Moana where you can experience the local shops or take a taxi into the main village, Vaitape, for access to bigger shops, restaurants, art galleries and more.

The Emerald villas with InterContinental Bora Bora blend contemporary and traditional Polynesian style to create an inviting space for relaxation and comfort. Villa Teremoana

For the ultimate luxurious experience, spend your stay with InterContinental Bora Bora at the Villa Teremoana. The private villa can be found at the furthest points of the resort complex and can hold up to eight people with a maximum of four adults and four children. The villa comes with two king-sized bedrooms, private sun deck, outdoor shower and two bathrooms with bath and shower alongside the resort’s regular room facilities. The villa can be booked for a smaller group with one of the bedrooms closed to guest access.

Sands Restaurant

Delight in the casual atmosphere and beachside location of Sands restaurant. The restaurant invites guests to enjoy a cocktail, mixed by an expert, as they watch the sun set over the lagoon. Sands offers lunches featuring salads, sandwiches, grilled treats and other lighter dishes. In the evening, the menu is a blend of traditional and international cuisine with Asian twists. The restaurant also hosts a weekly barbecue and live entertainment for special occasions. Sands is open 12:00pm – 3:00pm for lunch and 6:30pm – 9:30pm for dinner. The restaurant has a casual dress code and kindly asks guests not to dine in swimwear as it is not appropriate.

Reef Restaurant

For an al fresco evening in stylish surroundings, dine at the Reef restaurant. The restaurant prides themselves on serving authentic Polynesian flavours across their menu and bistro-style dishes. The restaurant hosts live traditional Polynesian dancing and serves a mouth-watering buffet of themed dishes to compliment these evenings. The restaurant is open from 6:30am – 10:30am for breakfast and 6:30pm – 9:30pm for dinner with a causal dress code (no swimming costumes) for all diners.

Le Corail Restaurant

Luxurious and exclusive dining experiences with InterContinental Bora Bora can be found at the Le Corail restaurant. With intimate surroundings and romantic decor, the restaurant is the perfect backdrop for gourmet cuisine. The largest collection of old and new world wines combined with exquisite French cooking from the executive chef will set your tastebuds alight. Le Corail sets a stricter dress code for their dining room compared with the other dining spaces at InterContinental Bora Bora. Men are required to wear long trousers, a shirt with a collar and covered shoes, whilst women are required to wear a dress or blouse with trousers/a skirt.

Bubbles Bar

Relax in elegant surroundings as you sip a delicious cocktail overlooking the impressive Mount Otemanu. Enjoy the cosy atmosphere in the bar after dinner and wile away the evening with the perfect drink, or try something new with bubble’s signature drink, the Black Pearl Martini. Bubbles bar is open from 5:00pm – 10:30pm with happy hour between 5:00pm and 6:00pm.

South Beach Bar

Open from 9:00am – 4:30pm, the South Beach Bar is the luxurious spot in the resort to recline beneath coconut palm trees and bathe under the glorious sun with either a cocktail or a refreshing fruit smoothie.

Sands Bar and Sunset Theatre

Found in the Sands restaurant and bursting with exotic treats, the Sands bar is open 9:00am – 6:00pm and serves drinks you can enjoy directly on the white sandy shores.

Canoe Breakfast

Indulge in a unique, romantic experience to start your day with this breakfast service. A traditional canoe will bring an American-style breakfast directly to your villa to have on your private sun deck. For guests wishing to book this dining experience, the resort needs at minimum a 24 hour notice period to make the reservation.

Resort Activities

InterContinental is pleased to offer guests a variety of activities that cater for each guest’s needs and desires. The resort offers a range of sporty activities including water sport, tennis and a fitness centre equipped with a full set of gym equipment. The resort also offers cultural events where their “beach boys” demonstrate everything from traditional Polynesian cooking to hat weaving. For adventure seekers the resort runs full and half day excursions out into Bora Bora and beyond for a taste of island life. Finally, for marine lovers the resort hosts a lagoonarium, a protected oceanic habitat home to more than 200 species of wildlife.

Water Sports

The water sport opportunities with InterContinental Bora Bora are only limited to the imagination. The resort provides kayaks and stand-up paddle boards for guests to use free of charge and can also provide snorkelling equipment where needed for a lagoon adventure. The resort is also home to an on-site TOPDIVE centre where guests can book activities with highly trained experts and enjoy the beauty of Bora Bora’s underwater wonderland. Species you can expect to see include manta rays, sharks, turtles, tropical fish and hump head wrasse.

The Lagoonarium

View marine conservation up close as you marvel at the coral nurseries and schools of tropical fish in the lagoonarium. Specially created to stimulate cold-loving coral from deeper regions of the ocean, the lagoonarium is the perfect environment of nutrients to encourage coral reproduction and the fish that feed off and shelter in the coral. The lagoonarium is monitored by marine biologists to ensure the habitat is healthy, and guests are invited to visit the lagoonarium to learn about marine conservation in tropical climates.

InterContinental Bora Bora houses three shops within the resort complex where you browse handcrafted items and find the perfect souvenirs to take home. For guests venturing into Bora Bora there are many different shopping options available.

Azur 

If you seek a traditional Polynesian gift, look no further than the shop Azur. Open daily, Azur carries locally designed and crafted items from traditional jewellery to Polynesian art.

Hinerava

This beautiful boutique stocks the world-famous Tahiti Pearls in a rainbow of colours and designs. The staff at Hinerava are highly knowledgeable and happy to help guide you through selecting the perfect pearls for you. The shop is open 9:00am – 7:00pm daily.

Spa Boutique

Treat yourself to pampering spa products carefully created after in-depth research into marine cosmetics and the use of south Pacific deep-sea nutrients in products. The boutique is open daily from 9:30am – 7:00pm and staff are always on hand, happy to assist you.

The Deep Ocean Spa at InterContinental Bora Bora was the first Thalassotherapy centre of its kind in the South Pacific. The Deep Ocean Spa proudly offers six signature treatments by a team of experts to leave you feeling relaxed and re-energised. The spa signature treatments are:

  • Polynesian Tauruni Massage – A traditional and spiritual experience that will harmonise your body and soul to restore your inner wellness.
  • Bora Bora Bliss Massage – Inspired by ancient Tahitian techniques, the massage is a full body sensory experience.
  • Algospa – This combination body scrub and wrap can be tailored to your desired outcome (relaxation, contouring or re-mineralising) and is used alongside colour therapy to promote wellness.
  • Deep-Sea Hydro Massage Bath – A therapeutic treatment that maximises on bubbles and deep-sea water. The jets used stimulate oxygenation of the skin and the whole treatment will relax your muscles and will re-vitalise circulation.

Resort Sustainable Technology

InterContinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso Spa are leading the way for sustainable technological developments in resorts. They were the first resort in the world to implement a successful private air conditioning system that uses cold deep-sea water. Their Sea Water Air Conditioning (SWAC) is free from global warming pollutants such as hydrofluorocarbons and has been successfully implemented at The Brando (luxury resort on Tetiaroa atoll).

InterContinental Hotels and Resorts as a company have taken a stance on responsible business practices and alongside their parent company IGH are committed to change. The measures these companies have taken for a brighter future include:

  • Green Engage Tools – The tools have helped them reduce energy consumption by up to 25% at all hotels and resorts.
  • IHG Shelter in a Storm – A programme designed to assist properties if a disaster should happen. Hotels would be allocated funds to help support the community, guests and employees.

Resort Environmental Practices

Alongside their sustainable technological advancements, InterContinental Bora Bora pride themselves on carrying out environmentally friendly practices in the day-to-day operations of the resort. Other eco-friendly technologies the resort is developing include solar panels to power the resort, rainwater for gardening and other landscaping projects, and digital newspapers and brochures to minimise their paper wastage.

The resort runs a strict recycling policy and composting programme that allows for their waste to be disposed of properly and effectively.
