Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro, known as the Marvelous city, is nothing if not exhilarating. Surrounded by gorgeous mountains, white-sand beaches and verdant rainforests fronting the deep blue sea, Rio occupies one of the most spectacular settings of any metropolis in the world. There, visitors will be able to visit the main attractions as Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer and also do a day Hike in Tijuca National Park.

Paraty

The historical town of Paraty is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage because of the architectural buildings and also the Atlantic Rain Forest. Nowadays, the Atlantic Forest is one of the most endangered ecosystems in the planet, and the Paraty area was deemed extremely important for the preservation of flora, mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians, as well as climatic, hydrological and geomorphological factors that support these forms of life. A Walking Tour for an historical touch, a Kayak tour to experience the beautiful green ocean and a hike to Mamanguá peak will provide a complete experience there.

Salvador

First capital of colonial Brazil, Salvador is notable throughout the country for its cuisine, music, religion and architecture. The African influence in many cultural aspects of the city makes it the centre of the African -Brazilian culture.

Chapada Diamantina

Chapada Diamantina is a National Park in the heart of Bahia. With a mix of savanna and cerrado, the park is home to an abundance of fauna and flora that is sure to stimulate the senses. The diversity in the park is enormous. Cliffs, canyons, caves, waterfalls, and rivers are some of the spectacular scenery’s you can enjoy on your trip.

Praia do Forte

Praia do Forte beach is located in Northeastern Brazil on the road linking Bahia to Sergipe which is called ‘The Green Line’. Beautiful white sand beaches, coconut trees, crystal clear water filled with reefs and colourful shoals are the main characteristics of this beach.

Day 1

On day 1 , Arrival. Private transfer from the airport to the hotel in Rio de Janeiro (approx. 17km – 30 min).

Day 2

On day 2 you will have a private driver guide at your disposal for 6 hours to see the main sights in Rio de Janeiro:  Corcovado & Sugarloaf. Everything begins on board of a centenarian eco-friendly electric train. It cuts through the well-preserved Atlantic Forest, which is part of Tijuca’s National Park. At the foot of Cristo Redentor, one of the Seven New Wonders of the Modern World, the most beautiful view overlooking Rio de Janeiro opens out in front of you. The ride to the Sugar Loaf cable Car unfolds a 360º scenery of breathtaking views, including Leme, Copacabana and Flamengo beaches; the Pedra da Gávea, Maciço da Tijuca and Corcovado mountains, the latter showcasing the statue of Christ the Redeemer;  Guanabara Bay; the downtown area; the Santos Dumont Airport; Governador Island; the neighbouring city of Niterói; the Rio-Niterói bridge; and the Serra do Mar mountain backdrop, with the famous Dedo de Deus (“God’s Finger”) peak.

Day 3

On day 3 we’ll do the Hike Tijuca Adventure Circuit – (Regular Tour). This circuit was designed by our team of experts in the Tijuca National Park using trails and sites that are more hidden and unique. The tour offers the opportunity to hike through the Tijuca Tropical Rainforest, one of the largest urban forests in the world. Our tour takes the group through an off the beaten track circuit of trails to discover its nature and history reaching the Taquara Hill (814m=2670ft), 100m higher than Christ the Redeemer, with magnificent views to the West part of Rio. This tour also visits the ruins of an old coffee farm and we see caves and waterfalls by hiking in the deep jungle over suspension bridges and streams. After the hike, refresh yourself showering in a waterfall* (bring a light towel and bathing suit). The scenery of this tour is amazing and as well as nature, it has a lot of adventurous moments inside the rainforest visiting sites that are not featured in most tours. On our way up, you will discover the history of Rio and Tijuca Forest and all about the coffee farms that used to exist there, its golden years and the reforestation that took place in the XIX century.

*The water flow on the falls varies according to the intensity of the rain.

  • Take a light snack (e.g. sandwich, fruit and granola bars) and 2 litres of water. Do not forget sunscreen, a hat and glasses, as well as mosquito spray. Wear light clothing and good sports shoes. This hike requires a very good level of physical condition.

Day 4

On day 4 we’ll have a private transfer from Rio de Janeiro to Paraty (250 km / 4h30 approx). Arriving there, we’ll make a Walking tour in Paraty Half Day (Private tour). Find out more about Paraty, a UNESCO nominated World Heritage site, on this fascinating walking tour of the old town. Your expert local guide will take you back in time to the Portuguese discovery of Brazil and trace the development of Paraty through the sugar, gold and coffee economic booms. Beautiful colonial architecture, street design ahead of its time, exiled Portuguese royalty and the dark past of the slave trade – these are just some of the ingredients that make up Paraty’s rich and colourful history from the past to the present day.

Day 5

On day 5 a Kayak Tour  will be our activity. Paddle the warm, sheltered waters of the bay of Paraty on this guided kayak trip to various islands and beaches. Swim, snorkel, and experience wildlife in the mangroves while you escape the busy boat-tripping crowds! No previous experience necessary. We give paddling and safety instruction for sea kayaks.

Day 6

On day 6, more adventure! We’ll do a Hike to Mamanguá Peak (Regular Tour). Located on the nearby Juatinga Peninsular Eco-reserve, Brazil’s only tropical fjord, the Saco do Mamanguá is a unique marine ecosystem and tropical paradise. On this day trip we set out from Paraty by bus to Paraty Mirim where we catch a boat into the fjord. We hike up Mamanguá Sugarloaf Peak (440m) for incredible views of the whole region. On the way back we stop for lunch at a restaurant on the beach and there is time for swimming. There is no better tour in Paraty!

Day 7

At proper time on day 7, private transfer from Paraty to Rio de Janeiro (250 km / 4h30 approx)
Private transport from the airport to the hotel in Salvador with bilingual guide (26 min / 25 km). For arrivals between 7am and 8pm.

Day 8

On day 8, Bike Tour in Salvador.

  • Half day tour, approximately 12 km in 3 hrs – BEGINNER LEVEL
  • Pedaling the lower part of the city of Salvador and visit the main tourist attractions of the peninsula.
  • Route: Ribeira beach, Bonfim Church, Monte Serrat Fort, São Joaquim Fair, Maritime . Terminal and Mercado Modelo.

Day 9

On day 9, Private transfer from Salvador to Lençois. Check in & Overnight

Day 10

On day 10, A day hike inside the National Park, followed by 14 Km more on flat lands, giving beautiful views of Pai Inácio mountain and the Three Brothers valley which includes the Mucugezinho, Sobradinho and Morrão mountains. Along the way we stop at Águas Claras swimming pool to enjoy the river and relax. We will finish our hike at Vale do Capão and then drive back to Lençóis. Overnight in Lençóis.

  • Car: 110 Km total; including about 30 min to get to the start and 1.5 hours at the end to get to the hotel
  • Hiking: 14 km the most of rolling plains over the sun. It’s very important that you use long pants and long t-shirts, Swimming: At Águas Claras

Day 11

Day 11: The Fumaca Waterfall Private Tour. A day hike to visit one of the highest waterfalls in Brazil. Pick up at 8:30 a.m. and transfer by car to Capão Valley, where the trail starts. It’s a 2 Km uphill hike, followed by 4 Km more on flat lands, giving beautiful views of Capão Valley and the surrounding mountains. Arriving at the waterfall, you’ll have a view from a 400 m high lookout point where we take a lunch break. We follow the route back down and then go swimming at the Riachinho River and waterfall before driving back to Lençóis.

  • Car: 150 Km total; including 40 Km of dirt roads + 90 km of highway, for car trips of about 1.5 hours each way.Hiking: 12 km Total (6 Km each way). 2 Km of good uphill, followed by 4 Km of rolling plains.
    Swimming: Optional at the Riachinho waterfall after the hike, a small but deep pool with slippery rocks. Please note this tour may occasionally be altered due to natural conditions (flooding, strong rains, etc.)

Day 12

Day 12, Tour to Poço Encantado & Poço Azul. We will leave Lençóis in the morning and head to the Poço Encantado (Enchanted Well) , an impressive 60m deep blue water pool inside a wide limestone cave where you can see all the way to the bottom! Next, you will visit the Poço Azul (blue pool), another impressive underground pool of crystal blue water, where it’s possible to do some snorkeling. After the swim, a delicious home-cooked lunch before our return to Lençóis.

  • Hiking: 20 minute-walk to the Mucugezinho River
  • Swimming: Snorkeling in the Poço Azul pool ; at the Mucugezinho River the tour may occasionally be altered due to natural conditions (flooding, strong rains, etc.)
