This pristine Rainforest is also home to more than 340 species Birds, 124 species of Mammals, 72 species of Reptiles, 56 species of Amphibians and a staggering 200 species of plants per hectare. The mission of the Borneo Rainforest Lodge is to preserve the rainforest for the generations to come by limiting human activity and to minimise the carbon footprint. It does this by managing the water, chemicals and waste that the accommodation uses in a sustainable manner and support the local community through jobs and utilising every resource the surrounding area can provide.

Being located in the rainforest, Orangutans are always around the Borneo Rainforest Lodge. It is because of this, that the lodge is involved in the conservation and study of the Orangutans. This work is especially important, as the local Orangutan population is quickly diminishing, and the Borneo Rainforest Lodge is working hard, along with researchers, to prevent them from going extinct.
The Borneo Rainforest Lodge are truly committed to ensuring that they are as eco-friendly as possible. Their dedication to waste management is outlined in seven key initiatives. These initiatives include promoting the use of reusable drinking bottles and providing refill stations that provide clean drinking water. All bags and boxes have been replaced with 100% biodegradable products, in order to reduce the impact of plastic on the local environment. Wastewater is treated with micro-organisms in order to clean it, and all the water is sent to be used as fertiliser. These measures have reduced the impact that the Borneo Rainforest Lodge has on the environment, therefore ensuring that the lodge is as eco-friendly as possible.
The Borneo Rainforest Lodge is also dedicated to reducing the amount of unnecessary electricity it uses. LED lighting and energy-saving lightbulbs are used throughout the lodge and all the accommodation, this reduces the impact that lighting the lodge has on the local environment. Also, the water heaters are powered by solar energy, which is a renewable source, reducing the amount of fossil fuels that the lodge utilises.
