The first of which is diving, for the professionals amongst guests, you take the plunge into the Pacific Ocean and discover the life that lies below the surface. For those guests who do not have a diving certification, you will not miss the opportunity to see ocean life due to the Snorkelling opportunity that is offered. When snorkelling you will have the chance to see a range of wildlife including; turtles, octopus and tropical fish. Sailing and Paddle Boarding tours are also offered, these allow guests to explore the beautiful Costa Rican shorelines. In recent years, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute has promoted the Certification of Sustainable Tourism (CST). This certification ensures that hotels comply with and implement sustainable practices. The Bosque del Mar Hotel is working towards completing this certification by demonstrating their awareness of the environmental, social and economic issues of the local area. Also, the hotel has enforced numerous eco-friendly practices and cooperated in the building of shelters for children and rehabilitation centres for those in need.

The Bosque del Mar Hotel is dedicated to reducing the amount of electricity it uses. One such effort the hotel has gone to is the use of Solar Panels in all bathroom facilities, to have sustainably heated hot water. Also, the design of the hotel with large and open windows, has maximised the amount of natural light, and this has reduced the amount of artificial light and therefore electricity that is used by the hotel.

Bosque del Mar has implemented a pioneering water treatment plan that processes all the water that the hotel uses, this then returns approximately 70% of it to be used to water the gardens and fill toilet tanks. Furthermore, the hotel has factored in a ‘delay’ system for the changing of towels and sheets in guest’s rooms, information surrounding this is provided to each guest.
