The Mekong Delta is one of the most fertile and productive regions for rice, fruit and seafood on our planet, but changes in climate are driving people from fields, rivers and orchards and causing a shortage of much-needed food. Due to this, sustainability is a value cemented in the core of the Can Tho Ecolodges brand values. Can Tho Ecolodge promotes responsible tourism through by hiring staff from nearby villages that border the lodge. Wooden, coconut wall tiles and palm-leaf architecture are matched beautifully with amenities made of stone and a décor celebrating local culture, all sourced from local artisans in a bid to continue ancient trades and source profit back into the area.
Along with supporting local artisan businesses, Can Tho Ecolodge promotes responsible tourism through its hiring of local people from nearby villages. They take our responsibility to the Mekong locals and their homeland very seriously and encourage guests to do the same. All of our tours carry an eco-friendly message and one of them, the Green Mekong Tour, involves reforesting the delta in a small but meaningful way. The Ecolodge is powered on a diet of solar energy, natural water, and biomass energy, with efforts to keep waste to a minimum. Any by-products of the operations are recycled and safely fed back into the environment wherever possible.
