The curving, smooth, carved architecture of this area all reminisce of a bygone age of Mexico’s continual majesty, preserved for a modern patronage. The essence of the room design, coloured windows and carving on the floor evokes classical Mexican design in every way. The shades of colouring present here harken to Frida Kahlo’s stark paintings, and you may feel as if you’ve walked into the very soul of Mexico.

Hotel Boutique Casa Don Gustavo, Calle 59, Zona Centro, Campeche, Mexico

The location of Casa Don Gustavo is primed for easy access to neighbouring attractions. Guests can take a walk around the hotel and enjoy the historic centre of Campeche, museums of Mayan culture, and the imposing Cathedral of Campeche. A short distance from the convention centre and House of Crafts Tukulna, the historical intrigue of Campeche is considered highly enough for it to be marked as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Campeche remains one of the most strikingly beautiful locations in Mexico. Incredible beaches and the colourful architecture of a Picassian flare make walking the streets of Campeche a remarkably translucent and surreal experience, especially at night, where the street lights provide a lucid guide through the rough cobbled beauty of the roads.

Restaurant Don Gustavo

Don Gustavo is a beautiful restaurant inside Casa Don Gustavo boutique hotel. The restaurant captures the local flavours, from the freshest seafood to regional produce. Each dish served at Restaurante Don Gustavo is a reflection of the history and tradition of the Yucatan Peninsula.

The menu bursts with gulf of Mexico’s bounty with fish, shrimp and octopus, chicken, beef and pork dishes. The restaurant incorporates mouthwatering regional flavours in its dishes, from savoury fish stews to street style tacos.

La Olla de la Pagoda

This is high quality Mexican food that is sure to provide something for everyone.

Rooftop Pool

After a long day of adventurous site seeing and visiting historical museums around Campeche, guests can head back to Casa Don Gustavo and relax in the outdoor rooftop swimming pool or take a dip in the warm Jacuzzi to end the night in a symphony of bliss.

Manglares Kayaking

Located near the jungle region surrounding Campeche, the Manglares are a network of reedy, labyrinthine mangroves. If you are an adventurous type, you may want to set out on kayak down these beautiful river-ways. Let your mind drift into the primitive trance-like state of primordial wonder, as you slowly coast your way through a land untouched by time; this escape into the heart of untamed jungle will help set you on a path to freedom.

Heritage Sites

The Old City Wall is an interesting tourist destination, especially for history buffs. Dated back to 1732, it was built to protect Campeche from foreign invaders. Walking along its walkways is sure to transport you back in time, to an era when this cobblestone wall was all that stood between the city and potential invaders.

In similar fashion, the Campeche Cathedral is a beautiful, baroque testament of Roman Catholic design. This magnificent cathedral is an intriguing place to visit for its magnificent design and towering statue. Its height is impressive, and is believed to have been built between 1540 and 1760.

Finally, the Calakmul ancient Mayan city is one of the standout locations of historical significance. It is located a small way from Campeche, but is worth the journey. Located in the jungle region of the Peten Basin region, a visit to this site will feel like an archaic step back into a truly ancient time. A rekindling with one of the oldest civilisations in history.
