The diamonds are sorted from the gravel using a vibrating pan system, and gemstones are retrieved as the heavier stones fall into the pan.

The diamond safari is the perfect excursion for couples planning an engagement or celebrating their anniversary.

The diamond safari includes a short stay at a luxury villa, where you will be able to enjoy a Continental breakfast on landing, and a gourmet lunch before your return flight to Cape Town.

The Click Foundation

Launched by the Harris Family in 2012, The Click Foundation aims to grant primary school children access to technology in order to transform their educational experience and improve facilities so that children can continue to learn and develop without barriers, and in a fun and informative fashion.

The use of online English literacy programmes allows children from underprivileged schools to develop their skills and identify the areas where they need more help from teachers. Children are also becoming more familiar with using technology and reading through a series of fun online activities, improving their employability prospects in the future.

The Click Foundation currently supports ‘over 90,000 learners in 173 schools’, and has ‘created over 340 jobs for youth facilitators’, aiming to reach 1 million learners by 2024.

ArtAngels

Ellerman House ArtAngles is an annual event where the hotel hosts a charity art auction and party in order to raise money for supporting the education of local children.

‘To date, the ArtAngels events have raised over R20 million for education in South Africa. The events include a limited auction of fine art pieces kindly donated by some of South Africa’s best artists, the sale of raffle tickets, amazing prizes and fantastic wine, food and entertainment. The proceeds of the charity event are used to buy computers and expand the reach of the Click Foundation in the environments in which they operate.’

Great Plains

Ellerman House works closely with Great Plains Conversation, working to protect the beautiful African landscape and threatened environments in order to help wildlife populations thrive and support local communities. Guests staying at Ellerman House and Great Plains Conservation camps are helping to contribute towards the community enrichment projects and sustainability initiatives that Great Plains runs and supports.

One of these projects is Rhinos Without Borders, which aims to relocate endangered rhinos to areas where they will be able to live safely and breed, aiding their population’s recovery. Great Plains is also working to restore indigenous trees to landscapes across Southern Africa, helping to boost endemic bird and wildlife populations, and their conservation camps educate both students and teachers about the importance of conservation.

‘It all started when five individuals in their 50’s pooled their considerable skills and experience to create innovative, world-class conservation projects in diverse and threatened habitats throughout Africa. Paul Harris, owner of Ellerman House is one of the five individuals and we work closely with Great Plains Conservation, in any areas possible. Their mission is to find the right formula of conservation, communities and commerce that would make a lasting, sustainable difference to the world’s iconic wildlife and wildernesses.’
