Located on a 60,000ha private reserve which shares a border with the Etosha National Park, this secluded safari camp is a true Namibian treasure. Opened in 2016, the Safarihoek team’s continued aim is to expose its guests to the real and raw side of Namibia, while not forgoing the comforts. Here is where you can explore the wilderness, spot endangered species and economically support those actively trying to save them and their habitats. Relax in the serenity and silence, as distant calls of wildlife meander across the grassland; take a dip in the sparkling pool, enjoy delicious seasonal dinners, and most of all bask in the beauty of the Namibian savannah. Make memories you’ll treasure forever as you spend evenings by the fireside watching the stars, and magical mornings driving out into the wonder of the reserve.

As part of the Natural Selection Foundation, Safarihoek prides itself on providing guests with unforgettable safari experiences, while also actively helping to conserve African wildlife. That is why 1.5% of every person’s stay goes towards wildlife and habitat conservation. These donations are built into the business model, and are at the centre of everything the foundation does.
In Namibia 15.7% of the country’s population is employed within the tourism industry, a vital economic lifeline, as one employed person typically supports seven other people. That is why, in the wake of the COVID-10 pandemic, Safarihoek and the Natural Selection Foundation have formed a support program for remote villages around Namibia and Botswana. As well as delivering food parcels, the foundation partnered with Coaching Conservation to provide villages with vital healthcare information on how to stay protected and safe during the pandemic.
Within the private reserve of Etosha Heights, highly trained rangers work within the anti-poaching camp to protect and preserve the precious rhino population from illegal hunting. “Combined with the new state of the art anti-poaching surveillance technology, this team is a force to be reckoned with”.
In northern Namibia, not a million miles from Safarihoek Lodge, is Sesfontein Boarding School. Children from isolated and remote corners of northern Namibia attend and board with very few means. The Natural Selection Foundation have begun support the school and the children who attend it, firstly by providing beds for the children to sleep on. The support is on-going, and guests are welcome to contribute school supplies. If you wish to support the school, find out what is most needed during your visit by inquiring with Safarihoek, so you can support the school with exactly what they need.
Monitoring wildlife is a vital part of their protection, but this can be incredibly costly in both time and resources. This is why Safarihoek, and all Natural Selection Foundation properties have partnered with Citizen-Science, a growing initiative that uses tourist shots of wildlife in the effort to track precious species across the continent. This works by uploading your holiday pictures to the Citizen-Science platform, and providing the location of the shot. This way the scientists who receive the images can better understand the magnificent animals you spotted.
Out in the grasslands and acacia forests you have to be smart about energy. That is why Safarihoek is powered by two large solar panel grids, that sit on the property soaking up the beautiful Namibian sunshine!
The lodge is a family friendly and welcomes children of all ages. There is one family chalet available.
