Perched on the edge of Windhoek’s northernmost affluent suburb of Eros, Galton House has a relaxed atmosphere and is incredibly welcoming to each guest that walks through its doors. Peace and tranquillity are both provided as there are just nine guest rooms, making it a quiet place to visit and never overcrowded. Impressive wildlife photography adorns the walls of the property whilst the rest of the interior is a combination of modern minimalist and understated chic. Each of the rooms offers guests amenities such as Wi-Fi, satellite television, an in-room safe and a tea/ coffee station to enjoy. The property also has its own communal area consisting of a large lounge, dining room, garden and swimming pool, making for relaxing days spent unwinding. There are just nine rooms at the property; four standard double en-suite rooms, three standard twin en-suite rooms, one standard triple en-suite room and one standard family En-suite room. Each room is equipped with satellite television, complimentary Wi-Fi, air conditioning, an in-room safe, a coffee station and a telephone. The property also offers each guest with a laundry service upon request as well as an on-site manager and hosts to ensure that the stay is as comfortable as possible. Modern and minimalist in style, each of the rooms are simple but comfortable. Crisp sheets and fluffy towels as well as brightly coloured add a vibrant touch to the neutral décor.
A buffet breakfast is served daily in the dining room or can be enjoyed al fresco by the pool. The restaurant also prepares a range of local and international cuisine. Several restaurants and supermarkets are within a 10-minute drive and there is both an indoor and outdoor restaurant that offers a set menu for dinner and a la carte options for lunch. Food here is sure to be delightful as the owner’s wife operates a popular restaurant in the city. The kitchen also offers an array of healthy options at breakfast, with a selection of fruit, granola, yoghurt, fresh baked muffins and cooked dishes available. Lunches can be served on request and the dinners are recommended by the lovely and attentive hosts.
The property is an incredibly serene atmosphere and guests can stay at the property, unwinding throughout the day should they wish to do so. With its own library, guests are welcome to read and with its own outside swimming pool, guests are welcome to sunbathe and swim to their heart’s desire.
For those wanting to see and learn about the local culture, guests can visit galleries and well-curated museums such as the Diamond Museum, the State Museum and the National Gallery. The Diamond Museum has the biggest display of semi-precious stones as well as jewellery whilst the National Museum of Namibia allows guests to observe the wonderful history of the region as well as its many struggles over the years. The state-owned National Art Gallery displays permanent exhibitions of Namibian, African and European art, allowing guests to delve into the history of the region through its art.
The property is just a 30 minute drive from Daan Viljoen Game Reserve. This nature reserve is ideal for day visits and offers immense tranquillity in the heart of the bush. Guests will be able to spot mammals such as springbok, kudu, zebras, leopards and blue wildebeest.
The property does its best to not overpopulate the property and has just nine rooms available.
Children and families are welcome at the property and can be accommodated in either the family or triple room, or older children in a standard luxury room. There are no childcare services on site, however, so parents must keep watch of their children.
