Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge

Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge is an eco-friendly lodge, built to blend into the surrounding environment, its placement high on a ledge overlooking the Savuti landscape affords unique and spectacular 180 degree views; game viewing and the natural surroundings are outstanding here, being situated in the famous Chobe National Park. Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge significantly reduces its environmental impact by making the most of the shining suns’ rays, using it to create renewable energy through the use of solar panels. Each elegant tented room sleeps two people, offering and en-suite bathroom and private decking for an uninterrupted view of the African plains. The lodge is also family friendly, with two luxury tented suites that sleep four. The wildlife is extremely dynamic in this area of Chobe National Park. Situated in the west of the national park, the Savuti Channel bisects the park and empties into the Savuti Marsh, creating a region covered in rolling grasslands and immense savannahs. The diverse landscape is dotted by towering trees and thicker, primeval woodland. Watering holes punctuate the land and are surrounded by luscious vegetation, creating the perfect area for hungry and thirsty animals.

Guests can access Ghoha Hills in a 4 x 4 vehicle from Kasane Airport, this takes approximately 3 hours and takes you through different parts of the Chobe area including local villages. Small aircraft transfer is also available from Kasane Airport or Maun Airport.

9 Twin/Super King Luxury Tented Rooms

Each luxury tent is decorated with a natural colour palette and a lime-washed wooden floor, giving the rooms an authentic safari feel. A large, comfortable bed is placed in the middle of the room, romantically swathed in mosquito netting and overlooking the rooms own private decking, so the views can be enjoyed from the comfort of your bed. Each room comes with an ensuite, with a double vanity and a shower where you can appreciate a refreshing morning shower with a view. All amenities are eco-friendly including insect repellent, shampoo and conditioner and guests can keep cool with a large ceiling fan and an additional standing fan. During down times guests have a choice whether to relax in a couple of authentic, comfortable wicker armchairs or on their private decking which overlooks the watering hole also affording breathtaking views of the Savuti plains.

2 Family Luxury Tented Rooms

The luxury family sleeps four, with the ‘main’ room furnished with a king size bed and the ensuite, complete with double vanity and shower. There is an inter-leading room which includes two single beds, both draped with mosquito netting.

Dining

Guests can enjoy a luxury and sophisticated candle lit dining experience at Ghoha Hills. Relax in the covered, but open sided dining area with unparalleled views over the Savuti plains whilst enjoying wholesome and delicious food. For a more romantic dinner, private dining is available under the stars on a private deck.

Game Drives

In an area so densely populated by game, it makes sense that the main excursions are game drives. Morning or afternoon drives are available, and are one of the best ways to explore the surroundings. Follow animal tracks, and place yourself in the centre of nature for and unforgettable safari experience. Elephants, impala, giraffe, zebra, antelope, buffalo and spotted brown hyena are all possible sightings, and what better way to see them than in their natural environment.

Savuti Marsh Excursion

Guests can depart on a days excursion to explore the Savuti Marsh area. With a professional guide you will be taken through ancient landscapes with points of interest in the Bushmen Rock Paintings, thought to be 1,500 years old, and Baobab trees thought to be just as old.

Look to the skies

With over 250 species of bird in this area of the Chobe National Park it is a birdwatchers paradise, especially in the wet season. See if you can spot the Cattle Egret, Woodland Kingfishers or the beautiful Lilac-breasted Roller. Wide night skies unpolluted by natural light makes for magnificent star gazing. Feel delightfully disconnected and look to the skies to see if you can spot constellations that aren’t visible anywhere else.

Helicopter Flights

Guests can pre-book helicopter flights. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and opportunity to view the Savuti Marsh from above with uninterrupted, breathtaking views over the horizon.

Green power systems

Ghoha Hills gets all its energy requirements from their solar power system. As a renewable source of energy, this limits the impact they are making on the environment. They also have a state of the art waste disposal system and a recycling program and are Eco tourism certified, which is “the highest level in eco certification given by the Botswana Tourism department.”
