Visit the artefacts and exhibits on show at the Alcázar de Colón, the home of Diego Columbus, the son the Christopher Columbus. A must see is the tapestry collection, which spans 15^th to 17^th century pieces, and contains beautiful cloths which are incredibly unique to the Caribbean. While there is so much to look around inside, even the building itself is a beautiful site to see!

There are so many historical sights to behold simply walking around the colonial zone of Santo Domingo, and the Monastery of San Francisco is no exception. Built by Franciscan friars in 1508, the ruins of the towering arches and beautiful brickwork remain today as a reminder of the rich history that fills Santo Domingo’s cobbled streets.
