Each tents in Kachi Lodge is complete with hotel standard furnishings and has been designed with comfort in mind, while remaining stylish. A wooden screen separates the bedroom from the bathroom and ensures privacy. The bedroom interior is carpeted, with the bed facing the window to ensure the views can be enjoyed to their full potential.

Throughout your stay, all meals and soft drinks are included, as well as excursions on and around the salt flats. Dining is provided by the highly acclaimed La Paz restaurant Gustu, which has won numerous awards for its cuisine – a delicious blend of traditional Bolivian fare and innovative contemporary dishes.

There are lots of options available but one not to be missed is a morning hike to a nearby “island in the salt” that is covered in cacti and offers breathtaking views across the Salarying. Head to visit the village of Coquesa and visit its ancient mummies that lie sheltered in a cave 600m above, another place to take in beautiful views of the vast white expanse. Those wishing to do a little more than just stretch their legs can embark on a 2 hour hike to the impressive Tunipa volcano’s lower crater and people with an interest in the local community and life at the salt flats may choose to visit the quinoa fields or walk with the clam farmers and their herds.

Kachi Lodge aims at a 0% plastic policy. No plastic bottles or packaging.  For the construction and operation of Kachi Lodge, they focus on Bolivian companies and buy as much as possible locally. The wood used for the Kachi Lodge platform is a Bolivian wood with FSC certification.

They also highlight Bolivian cultural heritage, for example through collaboration with Nativa restaurant, who’s mostly works with Bolivian producers, or by exhibiting the work of Gaston Ugalde, the most famous contemporary Bolivian artist. This cultural heritage is also discovered through activities offered by Kachi Lodge in collaboration with the local community.
