Leopard Mountain, Hluhluwe, South Africa

23,000 hectares of protected wilderness in the heart of Zululand, Manyoni Private Game Reserve originally was founded as part of a WWF Rhino Expansion project, and has since continued the focus on conservation. In previous years cheetahs and wild dogs have been reintroduced to the area to increase the biodiversity of the reserve. The Big Five can be found here, and alongside the lion, rhino, elephant, leopard, and buffalo live hyenas, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and antelope. Vervet Monkeys and Chacma Baboons can also be found here. The reserve is made up of rolling grasslands, areas thick bushveld and towering hills.

Guests can access Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge by driving from Richards Bay Airport or King Shaka International Airport. The tar roads are reliable, and a gravel road leads to the lodge. Specific directions can be requested from Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge.

Game Drives

Guests can head out twice daily on a traditional safari activity; a game drive. Journeying through the wild bushveld while the sun rises, guests will be able to experience the bush waking up. Trained and knowledgeable guides will be able to take you to the best viewing spots to see the magnificent animals up close and personal in their natural habitat. Escaping the heat of midday and early afternoon guests will return to the lodge before heading out again in the late afternoon when temperatures have dipped, travelling to a different area of the reserve while the sun sets and the nocturnal animals begin to come out. Game drives will leave guests with a deep knowledge of the bush and memories to last a lifetime.

Spa

With a holistic approach to their treatments, guests can head to the spa for an afternoon of relaxing and rejuvenating spa treatments with luxury and eco-friendly Africology products. Surrounded by the wild bushveld, the spa is a tranquil space where guests can enjoy a massage, facial treatment, or a beauty treatment inspired by traditional healers.

Zululand Rhino Orphanage

Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge was one of the founders of the original Manyoni Private Game Reserve and understand the important role they play in the conservation of species within the reserve and the communities which they support. They support the Zululand Rhino Orphanage which is an initiative which works to rescue and rehabilitate baby rhinos after their mother rhinos have passed away, either from natural causes or poaching. After the baby rhinos are rehabilitated they are reintroduced back into their natural environment to live a normal life in the wild.

Zululand Conservation Trust

Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge also supports and works with the Zululand Conservation Trust which works to support local conservation and community efforts. Such efforts and initiatives include taking local school children on a safari to raise conservation awareness, painting a local crèche, or creating a conservation fund.
