Luangwa Safari House

Luangwa House has been designed to appease the senses from the minute you arrive. Entering through huge pivoting doors, guests will find themselves welcomed by an opulent main area, high ceilings, enticing sofas and two floating staircases on either side – leading to the upstairs suites and a lavish wrought iron and marble dining table. The face of the house is completely open, providing natural light and incredible views over the landscape. The house showcases a tiled terrace with a refreshing plunge pool, and a decked walkway winding through the ebony trees. The location offers guests a wealth of activities and trips, from game drives, birding, boating safaris to cultural trips, village tours and traditional, local market visits. This magnificent private safari house is the ultimate in luxury and the perfect getaway for families (children over seven years) or groups of friends seeking an indulgent and private break unlike any other.

Luangwa Safari House, Zambia

Airport shuttle is complimentary to guests staying at Luangwa Safari House. The South African Airways, Kenya Airways and Emirates fly into Lusaka, Zambia. Additionally, South African Airways, Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airways fly into Lilongwe, Malawi. To Mfuwe it is a 1 hour 30 minutes flight with Proflight from Lusaka, Zambia or a 1-hour flight from Lilongwe, Malawi.

Getting to the house from Mfuwe Airport it is a 40-minute road transfer through colourful village life and some game viewing spots. Throughout the year, the house has direct access from Nkwali camp (5-minute drive from Luangwa Safari House) to the park by boat or vehicle. The dry months are from April until October and the wet months November until March. Temperatures range throughout the year from between 11 – 40 ° C.

Luangwa Safari House Suites

Each of the four spacious rooms are individual in style and feature their own en-suite bathroom, providing double vanities and showers. The rooms are uniquely decorated to mimic the elements – water, earth, wind and fire encompass the feeling of bringing nature into the house. Available as either double or twin rooms, the private safari house can sleep a maximum of eight guests. The rooms present a private veranda area for you to enjoy the tranquillity and wonders of Zambia. One of the four rooms, known as the ‘copper’ room boasts a sunken bathtub too. Additionally, guests will have access to a viewing hide on site. There is no WIFI in the rooms however, there is telephone reception.

Dining at Luangwa Safari House

Luangwa Safari House boasts a large dining area and is fully inclusive of all meals and drinks. Guests will feel spoilt the entire time as they feast on beautifully presented, delicious cuisine, from fresh fruit and veg, crisp salads, to succulent meats and fish – matched with exceptional service and obliging staff. Guests will indulge in exquisite cookery amidst the mesmerising surrounds, enjoying a magical affair at breakfast as the sun rises, and candlelit meals under a canopy of stars in the evening.

Game drives

Exploring the Luangwa by game drives is the best way to discover the unspoilt wilderness. In the comfort of a Toyota Landcruiser, guests will have the option of both day and evening drives – with a window seat available for everyone. All the vehicles have an open top affording 360-degree panoramas. These game drives allow guests to witness the magnificent Big 5, including multiple lion and leopard sightings plus a bounty of information about the land, flora and wildlife.

Walking Safaris

Walking in the Luangwa allows guests the opportunity to feel at one with nature and have a closer encounter of the action. The walks are led by the extremely knowledgeable guides and escorted by an armed National Park scout. Witness the details and trails that the animals leave behind. A vehicle with canopy can also be requested.

Boating Safaris

Boating safaris on the Luangwa in Zambia’s Emerald Season provides a special treat for guests. Explore the lagoons and experience enhanced game viewing and birding. Emerald Season is the time of the year when the heavens open and Zambia is blessed with life-giving rainfall from November to April. The rains transform the valley into a lush, emerald green paradise from which the rainy season takes its name.

Wildlife Conservation

“Robin Pope Safaris undertakes many activities and supports a diversity of projects that contribute to the conservation and protection of wildlife. We also ensure that wildlife and their habitats are not disturbed by our operations. Activities undertaken include:

  • Professionally Trained & Highly Qualified Safari Guides – Our guides are trained to the highest possible standards, and all have professional safari guiding qualifications
  • Anti-Poaching – In Zambia we financially support the vital anti-poaching activities of Conservation South Luangwa (CSL) in order to keep South Luangwa’s wildlife safe from poachers
  • We also support both financially and practically our local Kakumbi Community Resource Board
  • In Zimbabwe we support the Zambezi Elephant Fund. This fund works with local authorities, as well as a collaborative group of alliance partners to maintain a strong anti-poaching presence”
