Solar Power Energy

Ghoha Hills & Nogatsaa Pans Lodge utilise the latest in cutting-edge solar harnessing technology to produce green electricity. The installation of Freedom Won 100Kwh Battery Solution units efficiently accommodate both lodges energy requirements.

Solar power initiatives are rapidly becoming the new standard for all ecotourism destinations situated within Southern Africa and beyond, as an increasing number of operators are investing in new, cutting edge renewable energy sources and deviating from ecologically detrimental alternatives such as conventional diesel-powered generators.

With the abundance of sun inherent to Northern Botswana, the installation of solar farms like those implemented at Nogatssa Pans Lodge proves to be financially viable and ecologically sustainable.

State-of-the-Art Waste Management

The incorporation of state-of-the-art waste management facilities at Nogatsaa Pans Lodge has greatly improved efficiency by means of maintaining functionality and the reduction of resources such as water and electricity needed to ensure consistent and high-quality sanitation throughout the camp.

Certified Eco Tourism Destination

The Botswana Ecotourism Certification System is the result of a partnership between the University of Botswana BIOKAVANGO Project and the Botswana Tourism Organisation, together creating the first eco-centric certification system of its kind. In order to achieve the title of Certified Eco Tourism Destination (CETD), said institution must prove beyond all doubt that their operations comply with strict green criterion, outlined by the BTO.

Nogatssa Pans Lodge and Ghoha Hills source their energy exclusively from closely situated solar farms. This green energy is utilised across all in-camp facilities from powering lights and charging devices, to water-heating and waste management.

Certification may also only be attributed to ecotourism destinations that adhere to prominent eco-friendly architectural specifications – for instance, Nogatssa Pans Lodge qualifies for certification as the camp itself is built on raised timber decks, minimising the stress on the natural foundation on which the camp is constructed, in addition to Nogatssa Pans Lodge’s extensive and comprehensive recycling programme.

Children Welcome

Nogatsaa Pans Lodge welcomes all families with children aged 5 years old and above. However, due to the potentially hazardous and sometimes unpredictable nature of the environment, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children aged 5 – 11 years pay a reduced rate when sharing a suite with 2 adults.
