Paternoster Dunes Boutique Guest House comprises six individually styled bedrooms and a detached self-catering cottage. The communal patio, guest lounge and bar boast incredible views of the Atlantic. The location of the guest house directly on the coast itself, allows guests the convenience of being in the town yet off the beaten track enough that vehicle and foot traffic is minimal; the result is a coastal paradise.

The Paternoster Dunes Boutique Guest House is situated on the coast of Cape Columbine in the small fishing town of Paternoster. Known for its iconic white washed fisherman’s cottages and traditional lifestyle, this small town offers visitors a slice of life at a slower pace. To date, the towns main economic resource is the fishing trade, with oyster and abalone farms existing a little further up the coast. Fish caught in local bays are supplied to restaurants in the area, and Bokkoms (dry fish) are strung up and left to dry in gazebo structures.

Just 5km down the coast lies the rugged beauty of the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve, home to a diverse rage of wildlife, and flora and fauna, as well as the last manned lighthouse in South Africa, tis vast network of coastal hiking trails is definitely worth a visit.

Guests can access the Paternoster Dunes Boutique Guest House by car, the route north from Cape Town along the R27 offers visitors a spectacular view of both the incredible coastline and the stunning wildflowers that grow along the route.

Breeze Room and Salt Room

Situated on the lower level of the guest house, these two individually decorated rooms boast a Deluxe King or Twin bed with a full ensuite bathroom comprising a separate bath and shower. Each room sleeps 2. Decorated in a modern, rustic neutral palette and finished with lightwood furnishings, the Breeze and Salt Rooms are luxuriously understated, allowing the true gem of the room to shine; the furnished private patio with views over the Atlantic Ocean offers guests their very own piece of coastal bliss, perfect for enjoying the tranquility of their surroundings.

Aqua Room

Also situated on the lower level of the guest house, the Aqua Room is furnished in muted earth tones with hardwood furnishings and duck egg blue wicker patio furniture for guests to enjoy the unbroken sea views from their private terrace. The room also boasts an ensuite with a shower, and all the trappings of modern convenience, including free WiFi and tea and coffee facilities, along with a minibar.

Mist Room

The Mist Room is situated on the upper floor of the Paternoster Dunes Guest House, furnished with midcentury modern pieces, this room offers guests unparalleled views of the Atlantic Ocean from their own seating area. The room is complete with a Luxury Queen bed and ensuite with a rainfall shower.

Tranquil Room

Situated on the lower level of the guest house, the Tranquil Room is accessible from the courtyard and pool area and sleeps up to 2 guests. Guests in this room are perfectly situated to socialise with a drink by the pool, or utilise their private sea-facing patio to the side of the guest house. With nature-themed artwork adorning the walls, the Tranquil Room offers guests the quietude the name promises, furnish with antique hardwood pieces that offer a stylish juxtaposition to the minimalist wrought iron Superior King bed. The muted gold and burnt orange tiled ensuite hosts a rainfall shower and brings a splash of warmth to the room.

Boulder Suite

The Boulder Suite is situated on the upper floor, which provides guests with partial sea views from the bedroom. The suite is decorated in a greyscale monochrome, which serves to highlight the whitewashed exposed wood ceiling and beams, this stylistic choice reflects the traditional whitewashed buildings of the village of Paternoster itself.

The Suite is comprised of a Luxury King (or Twin) bed, an ensuite with a separate bath and rainfall shower, and a separate lounge area with a private sea-facing balcony. The Suite also has a private exterior staircase entrance, allowing guests to revel in the quietude of the suite and the sounds of the Atlantic Ocean lapping up against the sands.

The Paternoster Dunes Boutique Guest House offers a buffet-style breakfast of homemade muesli, freshly baked breads and pastries or hot breakfast options that include South African specialities and locally sourced fish dishes, or a hearty Full English. The guest house also offers afternoon tea in the lounge, offering a variety of confectionaries and hot and cold beverages.

Whilst the guest house does not offer afternoon and evening meals, the close proximity to the town and local restaurants and eateries, means guests can enjoy an evening stroll on the beach on their way to dinner or lunch.

Explore the Bay by Kayak

There are several kayak rental options in the area, and this intimate way of interacting with the wildlife will definitely give visitors something to write home about! The bay is home to dusky dolphins, Cape fur seals, and a variety of seabirds and marine life, including a nest of the endangered African penguin.

Wolfgat

Winner of the 2019 Restaurant of the Year award, this intimate restaurant prizes itself on hyperlocal ingredients. Seating only 20 guests, Wolfgat offers a seven-course tasting menu specialising in foraged ingredients such as dune spinach, beach succulents and wild coastal berries.

Columbine Nature Reserve

This stunning coastal reserve is full of hidden treasure; pack some sturdy walking shoes and explore the myriad of hidden rock pools, and diverse plant life and make sure to pack the binoculars to fully experience the extraordinary variety of birdlife.
