By collaborating with local students, the Rasa Ria Reserve aims to educate young people about the importance of protecting their local environment. This education hopes to inspire the local young people and ensure that they continue to protect the local biodiversity as they grow up.
The Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort and Spa is situated just 15 minutes away from two local schools. The resort offers support in the form of scholarships, education and training in order to boost the confidence of the local children, and also aim to ensure that they grow up to be responsible. The ‘Meal a Day’ programme is run by the resort and provides meals for 30 underprivileged students of one of the schools. This initiative ensures that these children don’t go hungry. Furthermore, the local schools are encouraged to get involved with activities, such as making art and mushroom growing, in order to teach the children about sustainability through play.
