At Explorean Kohunlich guests can delight in the culinary experience offered by La Palapa. Enjoy a delicious evening meal and drink or a refreshing juice at the bar. With a beautiful rustic atmosphere guests can enjoy the cosy atmosphere while sitting inside, or out on the terrace with stunning views.  La Palapa opens from 7:30 to 9:30 pm, Monday through to Sunday.

After a full day of activity, head over to the outdoor pub and relax in the cool atmosphere as you cool off with drinks and cocktails. The pub is an international and casual establishment offering self service at all convenience. The atmosphere of the Pub goes well with the resort, guests can enjoy the green scenery and the crystal clear pool, and at night it is lit by calming, cosy candles, lulling you into a sense of timeless bliss. The opening times are from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Adventurous activities at the resort include bike riding, kayaking, sailing and trekking or head to the beach to enjoy snorkelling, diving, boat trips and fishing.

For a more peaceful activity take a trip to the spa and rejuvenate your body with a peaceful massage. Choose from a range of massages, as well as traditional Temazcal treatment or a steam bath and experience the atmosphere of healing.

Due to the presence of local Mayan ruins, there are plenty of exciting tours for you to embark on to discover and trek through these fascinating ruins. The tour will begin through the local villages, travelling the long and bumpy roads down through them, and will then arrive at the ancient city of Dzibanche, which dates back to 200 BC. You will have an opportunity to go up onto the temple of the owl.

Then it will be onto the ancient city of Kohunlich, as you walk through the remains of the buildings of what was once a crucial city in the region for trade and commerce. A tour through these ancient and laid to rest ruins will deliver you an insight into the proud and fascinating history of the Mayan peoples in Mexico.

With beautiful beaches to explore, you are presented with the perfect opportunity to dive. Good locations can be found in the nearby Costa Maya, including opportunities to snorkel and scuba dive in the local bay. This is a fun and exciting way to take in the local undersea wildlife the area has to offer. Additionally, the beaches around Kohunlich provide excellent opportunities to dive and swim, not to mention kayaking and sailing.

Explorean Kohunlich takes pride in sustainability, the resort has adopted measures and practises that allows them to care for nature, the environment and help to promote sustainable tourism. The resort acts to conserve natural resources and care for the environment, with products used within the kitchen being sourced locally.

The hotel uses water coolers and dispensers to limit the waste within their accommodations and guests have the option to reuse towels and opt out of daily room cleaning. Bicycle rentals are encouraged for guests to use instead of renting a vehicle, which helps to benefit not only the experience of exploring the surrounding area but reduces the use of fossil fuels.
