History of the Area

These ancient ruins can still be seen today, and have become a popular place to visit for tourists interested in the incredible history of Sri Lanka. Back in the tranquillity of The Notary’s House, history is not forgotten either. Throughout the property, standout elements include batik wall hangings, which were commissioned as an ode to Sri Lanka’s heraldic flag tradition. Additionally, a portrait of the notary, after whom the house is named, hangs tastefully integrated with the house’s décor, and has been wonderfully preserved. The menu is seasonal, in tune nature, and the ingredients are grown right on site – what could be better than that?
