Topas Ecolodge

Topas Ecolodge is situated on a picturesque hilltop overlooking the mountains and valleys of the Hoang Lien National Park. Living among the hill tribe communities, visitors embrace a culturally enriching experience enhanced by the refreshingly quiet and remoteness of North Vietnam. Topas Ecolodge house forty-one stylish bungalows constructed with local white granite carved out from the Hoang Lien Mountains by one of Vietnam’s best stone-cutter teams. From the granite walls to the wooden furnishings, inside each bungalow visitors will find the finest local materials have been used to produce a rustic minimalist interior in an unmistakably Scandinavian aesthetic. All bungalows can be set up with either a single queen size bed or alternatively two twin beds. Additionally, the lodge offer large wooden cribs for guests with babies and toddlers. To comply with their sustainable values, each bungalow will feature energy efficient lightbulbs and minimal electrical facilities therefore minimising use of electricity without impairing the quality of your stay. As a guest you will experience all the comforts of a pleasant stay in an environment that is making a responsible and sustainable commitment to the nature and people of Sapa Valley.

Premium Executive Bungalows

Each premium executive bungalow exudes a rustic coziness from the sturdy stone walls, plush bed in neutral tones, wooden furniture, and large private balcony overlooking the mountains and valleys outside. Situated on the far-end of the resort for maximum privacy amidst nature. Premium executive bungalows can be combined with suite bungalows via a small garden area with outdoor seating to accommodate groups of friends and families who wish to stay together.

Topas Ecolodge Lounge

Let the crackling sounds from the lounge’s fire place soothe you over a glass of mulled red wine in the winter or bask in a cool breeze through the open windows with a refreshing signature Gin and Tonic during those hot summer nights, the Topas Ecolodge Lounge is located on the ground floor near reception. The Lounge offers a comfortable and popular meeting point for guests after a long day of exploring Sapa. Although equipped with high-speed Wi-fi and a fully stocked cocktail bar, there is also a small selection of books, board games, and toys for children available to borrow there.

Stilt House Restaurant

Topas Ecolodge provide a fantastic service in assisting visitors in their culinary adventure throughout Vietnam. Although there are restaurant facilities located in the lodge, Topas Ecolodge offer to set the scene for you providing a simple yet elegant picnic menu as a mid-day or a golden-hour delight to be enjoyed overlooking the scenic sights. Alternatively, a majority of the meals hosted by Topas Ecolodge are situated within their Stilt House Restaurant, an establishment from which its namesake derives from its construction material. Two traditional Tay stilt houses have been carefully moved piece by piece from the original site and later reassembled in the heart of the resort. The menu, a dream mix of European-styled plates with a distinct Vietnamese influence, can be savoured in the romantic terrace overlooking the property, as well as the small wrap-around porch loved by those who prefer lounging in the fresh air and sunshine. All ingredients utilised by the chefs at the Stilt House Restaurant are based primarily on local, seasonal ingredients, including the rice, vegetables, and fruit which come from surrounding villages or the properties organic garden.

Pavilion Barbeque

Topas Ecolodge present a second restaurant, the Pavilion Barbeque. Atop a nature blanketed hill and under a covered gazebo, visitors are welcomed to delight in a menu filled with delectable grilled items prepared on an open fire or within a wood-fire stove oven. The talented chefs at the Topas Ecolodge provide several seasonal delicacies while adhering to a sustainable food supply system created from premium international materials like imported meats and cheese, as well as high-quality local ingredients such as produce, poultry, and fish.

Spa and Pools

To provide guests the perfect treat after a day of intrepid exploration, Topas Ecolodge assist you to unwind and relax with their mountain spa, featuring traditional Red Dzao herbal baths and an array of wellness treatments. Furthermore, the Rice Spa enhances visitors understanding of the local cultures with a chance to discover more about the special ways the local communities use herbs in their daily lives. Additionally, Topas Ecolodge offer a relaxing dip in their tranquil infinity pools, surrounded by rice terraces high in the mountains. The pools provide different depths to suite the visitors requirements, as well as being heated through an eco-friendly system using 85% less energy than standard heating technology. The lower ‘adult only’ pool is unheated for those who prefer a refreshingly cool swim and offers an accompanying jacuzzi. Located near the upper-level tranquillity pools is an alternative bar to the aforementioned Lounge serving a multitude of snacks, tapas, drinks and fruit. The tranquillity pools become the perfect setting to relax, embrace the incredible views of the peaks and valleys and feel at one with nature.

Additional Tours

The unique location of Topas Ecolodge presents guests with plentiful opportunities to discovering one of the most regions in all of Vietnam. Cycle or trek through the deep forests of Hoang Lien National Park to visit one of the most remote hill tribe communities in Sa Pa at the Red Dao village. On a clear day, ride the longest cable car in the world to the summit of Mount Fanispan and see all the way to china. Alternatively, the lodge provide a free daily shuttle bus to and from Sa Pa town to engage with local communities and witness the vibrant market stalls.

Topas Ecolodge present a sustainable model for their own business while providing high quality hospitality. As a solution to reuse as much waste as possible, the lodge have incorporated an exceptional recycling system. Furthermore, Topas Ecolodge have been recognised by the head of local authorities as an important employer of ethnic minority staff, providing around one hundred local villagers work, on-site housing and resources to grow vegetable and cook their own food.

Committed to producing real sustainable benefits while working closely with the local communities, Topas believe that both the environment and local community should benefit from their business and have provided major sponsorship to the local schools by supply books and writing materials, as well as receiving education and training on site.  Through this sustainable model, Topas Ecolodge have seen a positive impact from their work for the surrounding communities.

Water/Plastic Management

By recently constructing wetland to treat wastewater utilised on site, Topas Ecolodge have prevented unsanitary water affecting nearby rice fields and impacting local communities. Additionally, the lodge aims to reduce single use plastic consumption to an absolute minimal, as well as investing in a glass crushing machine which can later be utilised for concrete in construction and maintenance.

Promoting Education

Topas Ecolodge is a proud sponsor of the local school and supplies books and writing materials throughout the year, as well as employing local staff and investing time into each of them. Many have gone on to become valuable members of staff. Sharing knowledge and experiences gained from operating in Sapa is also important, which is why they often cooperate with other organisations and schools such as the United Nations International School fo Hanoi to further educate the local community in big cities on how best to protect the environment and ethnic minority peoples of northern Vietnam.
