Located on the west bank of Li River, the Green Lotus Peak is a landmark of the county and the peak resembles a budding lotus bloom. There are many pavilions, statues and steles near the Green Lotus Peak that visitors can explore with the most famous being the Chinese character ‘dai’ written in cursive script. Soak in the natural beauty of the landscape surround the area of the peak at Yingjiang Pavilion that provides eight windows with stunning views of the mountains. The West Street is a short walk from the Green Lotus Peak that guests can travel to spend time in the local bars or explore the shops.
The Lion Mountain got its name due to the mountain having a similar appearance to a male lion that is prostrate and the rock is shaped like a lion’s head. A number of poets and writes have climbed up the mountain to visit it and write poems for hundreds of years and it is said that King Jianwen of the Ming Dynasty secluded himself from society on the Lion Mountain to be a monk. Visitors can gaze upon the statue of King Jianwen that has been set up in the Confucian Classics Hidden Building situated behind the Hall of the Great Hero on Lion Mountain. You can also see relics of camellia trees that were planted by King Jianwen in front of the temple as well as two poems engraved into the temple that were written by him too.
Situated near the Big Banyan Tree, Moon Hill is a natural masterpiece upon which there is a round hole on the hilltop that resembles a bright moon which is where the hill obtained its name from. Moon Hill used to be a limestone cave and is one of the Karst formations in the area where people can hike up during your visit. A path has been developed for visitors to walk along where you can enjoy a show of waxing and waning of the moon on your journey whilst taking in the views of the Licun Village nearby. You will find yourself walking up 800 marble paved steps that will take you to the Moon Palace that is 50 metres in diameter in which there is a smooth wall and stalactites hanging from the ceiling.
