This road trip can only be booked for those who have spent a few weeks doing our community projects in and around Port Elizabeth and is a great way to see more of the amazing country that is South Africa.
Spend 7 days with your new friends heading west from Port Elizabeth along the famous Garden Route as you straddle the rugged coastline. Soak up some of the must do adventure activities form bungee jumping to blackwater tubing to horse trekking whilst visiting craggy and striking areas like Tsitsikamma National Park.
Spot baboons in the forests around Wilderness and be awed at the abundance of birdlife as you canoe up the Towe River to visit a waterfall.
Step back in time as you visit caves that tell a story of Africa’s past before heading into Cape Town and being spoilt by all the amazing activities on offer. This could see you climbing Table Mountain and enjoying stunning views or a must is to head across shark invested waters to Robben Island to see where Mandela and his comrades spent decades living behind bars. And before heading home make sure you visit CT’s craft markets and pick up a souvenir or two to bring back those adventurous memories for years to come!
This 7 day journey will complete an essential part of your South African experience with us.
On the Friday you will travel to Storms River and stay the night at one of the best backpackers in town. Here you’ll have free time to explore and discover the area.
Try one of the many amazing adventure activities Storms River has to offer (optional activities include Mountain Bike Trails, Treetop Canopy Tours, Zipline across the Falls, Kayak and Lilo Experience, Horse Riding in the Forest, Tsitsikamma National Park, Bloukrans Bungee Jump, Elephant Sanctuary, Blackwater Tubing and Monkey Land).
On Saturday, late afternoon you will travel to Wilderness where you’ll spend two days and nights exploring this wild and picturesque part of the South African coast line.
Earlier in the day you’ll still have time to squeeze in some more adventures near Storms River before departure.
On Sunday you will get the chance to canoe part way up the Towe River into the Wilderness nature reserve and take a short hike to a waterfall where you can take a short picnic or dive into the refreshing mountain river waters.
Wilderness also has one of the best views in South Africa from Dolphin Point where you can ask your guide to stop on the way out of town for a quick snap to add to your memories. Other things to do in Wilderness include paragliding, abseiling, hiking and relaxing on the beach.
On Monday you will travel to Oudsthoorn to visit the historic Cango Caves (home of original African cave paintings) and an ostrich farm with the chance to ride an Ostrich!
At the end of this exciting day you will travel to Mossel Bay and stay at a local backpackers.
Early on Tuesday morning you will transfer to Cape Town where you’ll spend three nights in the centre of the city, giving you the best chance to explore all that this amazing place has to offer. See Table Mountain and grab a few drinks at sunset on Signal Hill before the opportunity to explore the local nightlife.
Wednesday morning will give you the chance to travel to the famous Winelands, north of Cape Town and have the opportunity to sample some famous wines at the Spier Wine Estate. You will travel back mid-afternoon and be able to explore the renowned V & A Waterfront.
On Thursday you have a free day to explore Cape Town for yourself! Why not try one of the many activities Cape Town has to offer? (optional activities include Shark Cage Diving, Cape Town City Tour, District 6 museum, Aquarium, Cape Point, Skydiving, Paragliding from Signal Hill, Climb Lions Head, Boulders Beach and Robben Island).
On Friday like all good things, your South Africa Road Trip Experience must come to an end. Pack up all your souvenirs and say your final goodbyes, its time to head east back to Port Elizabeth. Alternatively you can leave us here in Cape Town to continue your adventures elsewhere in South Africa or catch a flight out of South Africa.

On the final day, you can either part ways from Cape Town or head back on our minibus arriving in Port Elizabeth approx. 15:00. You can stay at our accommodation that night if required.

There is no age restriction. However, older travellers should be informed that the majority of the group are usually aged between 18 and 25.
It is an seven-night trip from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town. You move through Storms River, Wilderness, Oudtshoorn, Mossel Bay, and then spend three nights in Cape Town before either returning to PE, flying home from Cape Town, or continuing your travels.

Yes. You can finish the trip in Cape Town and continue your travels independently instead of returning to PE with the group.
No. We recommend booking your return flight for Saturday. The bus journey back to Port Elizabeth can experience delays, and we cannot guarantee Friday arrival times. Your Friday night accommodation and food in PE are already included in the trip price, so there is no extra cost to stay the additional night.
