Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel

Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel is located on the coast of Grenada, a small island known as the ‘Spice Island’ in the Caribbean. The beautiful, fine sandy beach is just a stones throw from the luxury hotel where guests can while away relaxing afternoons sun bathing or paddling in the shallows. A range of suites are comfortable and deluxe whilst also being homely, inspired by the hotel being family run. Whether guests choose to dine in the Rhodes Restaurant or the Beach Club, be assured that the food will be fresh and delicious with fine wines and cocktails to compliment your meal. With a range of activities provided by the hotel, such as kayaks, paddle boards and snorkelling equipment, guests can spend the afternoon gliding through the clear sea waters, or the more adventurous can wander inland and spend the day exploring the luscious rainforests that cover the island.

The Beach Club at Calabash, Lance aux Epines, Grenada

Grenada is an island in the Caribbean known as the Spice Island for its wealth of herbs and spices. The island is rarely busy with travellers, offering a more intimate experience and friendly locals will greet everyone with a smile. The island is hilly, with thick, luscious forests hiding refreshing lakes and waterfalls and a wealth of animal life such as opossums, Mona monkeys, iguanas, tree frogs, and fruit bats. Arguably the most alluring aspect of Grenada are the beaches, with fine white sand and the azure sparkling waters of the Caribbean Sea luring travellers to the warm shallows. The capital, Saint George’s is bursting with energy and culture, with colourful Georgian style buildings and local markets.

Guests can travel to Calabash Grenada by private transfer from Grenadas International Airport, only 10 minutes away.

Estate Villas

Guests can stay in one of the Estate Villas, ranging from two to five bedrooms, these villas are beyond luxury. Stunning island themed décor is punctuated by wooden features and a sense of homeliness and comfort runs throughout the villa. The villas range in size from 4,500 – 10,000 sqft, all include private infinity pools where everyone can enjoy a refreshing dip in the heat of the afternoon, or a relaxing paddle before dinner.

All villas have ocean views and balconies, so guests can enjoy watching the sparkling Caribbean Sea at any time of the day. All bedrooms have king beds which can be split into twin beds if necessary and all bathrooms are spacious and bright, with walk in showers and double vanities. Guests will be able to keep cool throughout the day with air conditioning and fans in the villas.

Penthouse Suite

Guests who stay in the penthouse suite can expect luxury and comfort. The suite is bright and spacious, a light colour palette throughout is dotted with dark blues and turquoise features, creating an island atmosphere in the space. There is a comfortable king size bed with crisp white bed linens and an open plan lounge and dining area with wicker chairs and a cosy white sofa in front of a stone feature wall and television. The marble bathroom includes double sinks and a large, deep jacuzzi bath where guests can have a relaxing soak. This suite can accommodate three people if arranged in advance, and can also be merged with the deluxe suite below it with advanced notice, giving access to a glassy swimming pool.

Pool Suites

The pool suites are all ground floor, and are centrally located whilst still only being a short walk to the enticing Caribbean Sea. They include a separate living and bedroom area with a large, comfortable king size bed and a sofa bed in the living area. A light colour palette runs throughout the rooms, with dark blue features and chic, modern furniture. The space is bright and airy from the French doors which lead to the outside area. With a view of the ocean and surrounding gardens guests will feel in the heart of island, and can enhance their experience this experience by enjoying a refreshing outdoor shower.

Deluxe Suites

The deluxe suites at Calabash include a large, comfortable king bed with fresh white bed linens and island themed scatter cushions, as well as a sofa bed in the separate lounge area. The suites are either ground floor level or first floor level, and for suites on the first floor a large balcony offers exceptional views of the azure ocean. The bathrooms of the deluxe suites are spacious and shiny, with double basins and a large walk in shower and soft luxury towels provided. All the deluxe suites are just a short walk away from the warm glistening waters of the sea.

Junior Suites

The Junior suites at Calabash are bright, spacious and open plan. With a comfortable king size bed with crisp white linens and a sofa bed suitable for a third guest, comfort and luxury best describe the room. The suites are on upper floors, and with balconies guests can marvel at the luscious gardens or the glistening sea with the knowledge that they can be down on the beach in the time it takes to grab a towel. White walls with splashes of turquoise make the space feel island chic and guests will feel at home here, with plump cushions and soft hanging curtains. The bathroom includes large double vanities, a walk in shower and a deep, freestanding bathtub.

Westside Suites

With an island cottage feel, the Westside suites are perfect for those guests looking for a romantic getaway. With a separate lounge and bedroom area, guests can spend their time relaxing on a large, comfortable sofa or catching up on some sleep in the king size bed, complete with soft bed linens. A spacious bathroom includes a large walk in shower. These suites are the closest to the beach so guests can spend long afternoons and evenings paddling in the warm waters before walking back and flopping into bed.

Rhodes Restaurant

For a spot of fine dining guests can eat at Rhodes Restaurant. The restaurant is renowned and evening attire is required to dine here, the atmosphere being upscale and sophisticated. Guests can enjoy local, fresh food inspired by the local cuisine and presented uniquely, enough to make anyones tastebuds tingle. Connected to the restaurant is a piano lounge where guests can relax with a pre or post dinner drink.

Beach Club

The Beach Club is where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and a grill night on Tuesdays. Delicious fresh tapas plates and salads are served, with colourful fruits and vegetables. Compliment your meal with a refreshing cocktail, cool beer or fine wine. Or enjoy a freshly home-made lemonade. The dress code is casual yet elegant.

Al Fresco Breakfasts

Guests at Calabash can enjoy the unique experience of breakfast on the beach. With the soft white sand between your toes enjoy sweet and savoury dishes, prepared with only the freshest ingredients. For a more private breakfast guests can also chose to have breakfast on their own private balconies.

Eating Out

For guests who want to explore the island and the different cuisines in which it has to offer then there are plenty of restaurants on the island. For fresh seafood there is Carib Sushi or BB’s Crab Rack close by. For guests who prefer Italian cuisine there is Laluna and Antonia’s Pizza on the other side of the island, 61 West offers a beach bar and restaurant and The Aquarium is the perfect place for guests looking for some fine dining.

Water Sports

There is no better way to explore the surroundings of Grenada than to take to the waters. Explore the shallows gliding over the top in a kayak or on a paddle board, or enjoy some scuba diving, keeping an eye out for tiny and colourful fish. Guests may also snorkel to see the extraordinary Grenada underwater sculpture park. For a day of exploration guests can go on a boat trip exploring the coast of Grenada and the surrounding islands or enjoy a snorkelling cruise, sailing out to more remote spots of the Flamingo Bay to explore the depths. Fish enthusiasts will enjoy some deep sea fishing on Grenadas top sport fishing charter and guests can enjoy an authentic Caribbean sailing experience.

Explore Grenada

Guests have the opportunity to explore the breathtaking Grand Etang National Park, and the thick luscious forests that surround it. Private drivers can take guests around the island for a day of exploration or guests can ride scenic trails of the island in dune buggies for a unique and exciting adventure. With the island being covered in thick forest and hidden trails, guests can spend the afternoon exploring for one of the many hidden waterfalls, the Annadale Waterfalls specifically having a wild orchid bar where guests can stop for a refreshing drink after marvelling at the falls. Grenada has 26 beaches for guests to try and find, many of them private and hidden.

Carriacou and Petite Martinique

Guests can explore Grenadas sister islands Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Take a ferry from Grenada and spend the day exploring the wilds of paradise.

Fitness

A fully equipped fitness room is available to guests of Calabash, open 24 hours a day guests can enjoy an early morning workout or relaxing evening yoga session. Two floodlit tennis courts are also available for guests to enjoy a tennis game with surroundings like no other.

Hiking

The diverse landscapes of Grenada make it perfect hiking ground. Guests can hike to the graceful Seven Sisters Waterfall and enjoy a swim in the cool waters. Guests who are more advanced hikers can hike to Mount St. Catherine and Mount Qua Qua – the highest peak and one of the tallest mountains in Grenada respectively. For a more relaxed day hiking, explore the undisturbed rainforest of Morne Gazo and breathe in the fresh clean forest air.

Grenada Culture

The rich and diverse culture of Grenada deserves exploring whilst guests stay at Calabash. Known as the Spice Island, guests can visit ‘Laura’s Spice and Herb Garden’ to purchase local spices to take home. Chocolate production is another pride of the island and guests can visit Jouvay Chocolate, The Belmont Estate or L’Esterre Estate for a cocoa tour. For an immersive cultural experience, Grenada’s capital St. George has a market on Saturdays which guests can visit.

Community

Being a family run business, the staff at Calabash Grenada understand the importance of giving back to and supporting the local communities. Supporting the Pack for a Purpose charity, their goal is to help collect school supplies from their guests, helping to provide education to the children on the island. Four children’s homes are currently supported by Calabash Grenada including The Dorothy Hopkin Centre for the Disables, The Queen Elizabeth Home for Children, Programme for Adolescent Mothers and The Bel Air Children’s Home.

Children of all ages are welcomed at Calabash Grenada.
