Sugar Ridge Resort

Sugar Ridge is located amongst pristine beaches and lush vegetation in Antigua, offering guests privacy and luxury in one. With 60 chic guestrooms available to visitors, each room has king size beds and unobstructed views. The property itself includes three pools, two restaurants and a 2500 square foot spa. Sugar Ridge sits upon 43 acres of lush flora and fauna with unobstructed views at each point of the resort, making it the prime location for exploring beaches, taking hikes and biking around the island. Visitors can arrive at V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua and airport transfers are provided.

Premium King with Plunge Pool

The Premium King room is ideal for couples and is complete with its own private plunge pool. Located at the highest point of the resort’s hillside, total privacy is guaranteed as is a four poster king size bed surrounded by a white canopy, a flat screen TV, Wi-Fi and air-conditioning. An outdoor space also includes a dining set and lounge furniture for days lazing in the sun. Panoramic views of the ocean make it all the more luxurious. Other features include a wake-up service, tea/ coffee facilities, a safe, mini fridge, a shower, bath and complimentary toiletries.

Deluxe King with Plunge Pool

Perfect for couples, each unit comes with a four poster king size bed surrounded by its own white canopy. Each suite has air conditioning and a ceiling fan for comfort as well as a spacious veranda with its own private plunge pool to enjoy. Lounge furniture on the veranda is perfect for days lazing in the hot sun. Other features include a wake-up service, tea/ coffee facilities, a safe, mini fridge, a walk-in shower, bath and complimentary toiletries. Wi-Fi, bathrobes, cable channels and a hairdryer are also all provided courtesy of the hotel.

Deluxe Twin

Able to host up to 4 people in this suite, the deluxe twins are ideal for small groups or families staying at the resort. Two twin beds and a bathroom with a walk-in shower are all included as well as a hairdryer, bathrobes and complimentary toiletries. A secluded veranda allows plenty of light to enter the room and is the perfect spot to have a morning coffee admiring the view. It is also furnished with a day bed and dining area for a comfortable stay. Other facilities include air-conditioning, ceiling fans, Wi-Fi, and a flat screen TV. Cable channels are also provided as is a safe, mini fridge and an iPod dock.

Carmichael's Restaurant

Carmichael’s Restaurant is gourmet dining to the highest degree located at the highest point of Sugar Ridge. Floor to ceiling windows makes for spectacular views of the greenery surrounding the restaurant and is perfect for admiring the sunset and stars. The menu comprises of fresh seafood and local ingredients and in addition to the gourmet menu, vegan options are also available. Private gazebos can also be set up on the pool deck for an intimate, candlelit dining experience. Dinner seating at Carmichael’s begins at 6pm and it is recommended that guests make a reservation.

Sugar Club Restaurant

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, The Sugar Club is a full-service restaurant that overlooks the resort’s pool. An open-air oasis with a casual atmosphere, guests can choose to dine in the restaurant itself or out on the patio. The menu ranges from fishermen’s stew to barbecue beef short ribs. There is also a 2-for-1 steak night that is not to be missed. Sugar Club also has its own lounge for guests to socialise in over drinks and snacks.

Dine Around

Exploring Antigua leaves a wide variety of dining options available to indulge in. Turner’s Beach Bar and The Nest at Valley Church Beach offers local seafood and grilled food and nearby Jolly Harbour, there are a variety of international restaurants just a short taxi drive away from Sugar Ridge. Local roadside vendors also offer unique recipes and the resort offers a ‘Packed to Go!’ service to guests on days out.

Spa and Wellness

World class amenities are on offer at The Aveda Concept Spa at Sugar Ridge. Offering healing traditions from ancient India, the spa’s approach aims to sooth the mind, body and spirit with holistic health and balance being the main focus. There are four treatment rooms as well as shower facilities and a manicure and pedicure room. Massages can be enjoyed in a private garden setting and the extensive menu extends to hair and beauty services. Just across from the spa, guests are welcome to use the fitness centre as well as attend yoga classes or have personal training sessions.

Events

Different events are run throughout the year at Sugar Ridge and five nights a week guests are welcome to enjoy live entertainment in the Sugar Club Lounge. Bands and solo artists perform a wide variety of styles and no two nights of entertainment are the same. Fire Ball Full Moon Jams also take place at Sugar Ridge, inviting guests to drink and dance beneath the stars. Spoken word nights are also hosted at the hotel and different events are added throughout the week to keep guests entertained.

Beach Facilities

Sugar Ridge offers guests complimentary shutter services to Turner’s Beach and Valley Church Beach; pristine beaches where guests can take swim in the Caribbean and enjoy refreshments all from the comfort of a lounge chair. Turner’s Beach has its own Bar and Restaurant and complimentary Wi-Fi is available. Attendants are also on hand at Valley Church Beach. Shuttle drivers will be available 7 days a week and can pick guests up at a time suited to guests.

Hiking

Guided walks of Antigua are available 3 days a week at Sugar Ridge, early in the morning and late in the afternoon. The different destinations will take guests exploring local plants and wildlife off the beaten track. Other walks include a leisurely tour of the village of Bolans where guests can see the old estate house, sample rum and meet locals.

Green Globe Certification

Sugar Ridge is Green Globe certified, meaning it has demonstrated firm commitment to meeting the highest international standards in regards to environmental conservation and social responsibility. Alongside this the hotel promotes awareness and sustainable practices on all levels across the property.

Education

The hotel and its staff volunteer at non-profit organisations and Sugar Ridge provides internships for students from the Hospitality Training School alongside giving educational talks at the local schools. Every year in June the resort celebrates World Environment Day and Oceans day as part of its corporate responsibility and in accordance with this the hotel organises beach clean ups to promote sustainability education.

Local Community Support

The hotel has social and corporate responsibilities that it fills and in accordance with this, there is a monthly art show hosted by Sugar Ridge to promote local artists and their work, encouraging regional economic development whilst doing so. Local suppliers are also preferred and prioritised and those that adhere to sustainable practices are given preference to reduce packaging waste.

Beach Clean-ups

Beach clean ups take place to raise awareness for World Environmental Day and Oceans day, taking place in June of each year. Participants include local residents from surrounding communities and hotel team members. The resort also sponsors a team in the National Coastal Clean-up programme held every September.

Recycling

Recycling programmes at the resort facilitate the collection of all plastic bottles. Containers and aluminium cans are then sent to a local recycling plant.

Waste Reduction

In conjunction with the Antigua and Barbuda National Solid Waste Authority, Sugar Ridge Resort is improving their nationwide recycling programme to help recycling become part of the social order.

Water Conservation

Guests are encouraged and given the option of reusing linen and towels during their stay to conserve water.

Children older than 3 years old are welcome at the resort and anyone aged 13 years and above are considered adults
