Standard Rooms

The Standard Rooms consist of two double rooms and a twin room, all with balconies overlooking the lush garden or lake. Tours of the Temple

Guided tours of the local temples are provided by The Notary’s House. To break up all that relaxing by the pool, take a tour and explore the local history and culture that is all around you. From the Buddhist temple just across the lake, to the Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery, there is so much adventuring to do!

Bike Hire

Hire bikes from The Notary’s House and venture out into the beautiful countryside. Ride round the lake and spot kingfishers, go off to the local village, or into the trees and get lost in the beautiful wildlife all around.

Local Sourcing

Everything at The Notary’s House is locally sourced or produced. From the second-hand Sri Lankan antiques that feature in every room, to the ingredients in each dish, everything is from the local area. Guests are welcome to take a tour of the hotels own vegetable garden, and explore the delights growing metres away from the table from which you will enjoy them. The menu is seasonal, in tune nature, and the ingredients are grown right on site – what could be better than that?

A benefit to the small scale on which The Notary’s House works on is that their emissions are naturally low! With just six rooms, not only is the hotel quiet and peaceful, but you can rest easy by the pool with the knowledge that your tranquil stay is eco-friendly.

Children are very welcome at The Notary’s House! They can the splendour of the pool or venturing out on bikes into the forest.
