The resort sources many of its ingredients locally, with their own herb and vegetable garden based on the island to provide the many food and beverage outlets for their signature dishes. It allows food to be fresher but also eliminates the use of air miles.
Parts of the interior of the resort have been made from the upcycling of old materials that otherwise would have not been used. The lighting in the restaurant Alba for example has been repurposed from Indian pots. Additionally, The Whale Bar has its own construction on display to highlight waste conservation at the resort. It combines both man-made and natural materials. The eco-theme design is award-winning and showcases the natural beauty of the island to the guests.

The island resort uses its own diesel generation plant to closely monitor the use and consumption of diesel on the island in efforts to reduce their fuel consumption.
The recycling plant has been built on site at the island resort in an effort to reduce the amount of waste produced. It also turns large amounts of recycling into smaller cubes for transportation to reduce the amount of travel miles consumed by the island.
Staff members at the resort host weekly clean-ups for the inner parts of the island and daily clean-ups for the outer parts. With full island clean-ups being conducted monthly they focus on removing debris, litter and fallen foliage from the natural parts of the island.
High-efficiency lighting runs throughout the resort and consumes 95% less electricity than incandescent bulbs. Sensors allow energy to be conserved so that they switch on when they detect the presence of a person and switch off when that presence is gone. Water conservation is monitored through irrigation practices that monitor soil conditions, weather and plant water use, adjusting the water schedule to conditions of the site.
Water flow meters are installed to monitor water consumption and monitored maintenance is scheduled throughout the villa to prevent leaks and additional wastage.
As well as recycling on site at the resort, organic waste is composted and used as organic fertiliser for both trees and plants as well as to be used at the on-site vegetable garden. The company have also switched to suppliers that support locals and with views that are in line with the zero-waste management initiative.
