With a room size of 86 square metres the Jacuzzi water villa can comfortably host 3 adults. Veligandu’s main restaurant, Dhonveli, features all-you-can-eat buffet style meals and is open daily for every meal. it offers an abundance of international and local specialities to please each and everyone’s taste buds. Offering fresh salads, themed main dishes and a variety of tropical fruits, the buffet also offers soups, homemade bread and a selection of desserts. Live-action cooking stations are available and you can dine in many ways. Enjoy your meals in an open air style venue or under the Maldivian thatched roof. Dine indoors, al fresco or on the beach and enjoy a more intimate holiday rendezvous. Madivaru restaurant is open for dinner, reservations are essential. Bookings can be made up to 2 hours prior to opening, perfect for those impromptu moments of fancy. The restaurant is located on the west side of the island and features a delicious menu of appetizers, main courses and desserts.

Sip your favourite drink as you soak in the lovely views at our stylish main bar that is set on the beach. Thundi Bar will be open until the last guest departs to allow visitors to truly enjoy their nights.

Overlooking the lagoon, Athiri Bar is located on the beach at the northern end of the Island. With a long list of signature cocktails, spirits, beers and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy, the menu also boasts a list of tobaccos to indulge in should you wish to do so.

The internationally certified Ocean Dive Centre Team is on hand to welcome and assist those who wish to explore what lies beneath the surface with access to 18 dive sites. Diving conditions are uncrowded due to Veligandu’s secluded location, with the rare chance to witness marine life such as turtles and sharks amidst clear blue waters. Every Monday night Thundi Bar hosts ‘Diver’s night’, for those who want to take a dive in the dark to explore.

Seasoned water sports pros or complete beginners can enjoy the water sports activities at Veligandu. The qualified Ocean Water Sports Team are on hand to assist you at whatever level of experience and help you find something to suit any preference. Veligandu Island Resort & Spa, surrounded by a beautiful lagoon, an excellent house reef and long stretches of white, sandy beach, is the only Resort of Veligandu, North Ari Atoll. In order to maintain the resort and provide a more sustainable operation they have a Sustainable policy document detailing Energy Management through introducing LED lights, Water Management through schemes to reduce water consumption and more efficient laundry practices, Waste Management through segregation of recyclable waste, Environmental Awareness and supporting the local community.

The biggest way that Veligandu Island Resort supports the local community is through employment. Over 60% of staff are locals and have the opportunity to work their way up the ladder, as can be seen with the senior management team compromising of locals. Food is sourced locally and seafood is purchased directly through fishermen at market price. Fishing boats are used from neighbouring islands and the money supports these locals island communities. Fruits and vegetables are purchased once a week from the nearby island Thoddu to eliminate the need for air miles. Excursions take guests to Rashdoo which provides their local shops and restaurants business and the island purchases all cadjan for roof thatching from local islands. Maintaining these relationships is important to Veligandu and they are constantly looking for new ways to involve locals of the community in initiatives.

Through snorkelling expeditions and diving at the resort, guests can witness first-hand the delicate ecosystems and coral reefs below the surface. They can see how their stay at the resort aids funding for marine life protection and are able to participate in tree planting as well as coral planting. Social responsibility is important to Crown and Champa Resorts and focuses on youth development through education in local communities. Funding is given to the nation in Atoll and has helped assist in over 400 projects from 2009 to 2016. 82% of funds are used for education.

Self-bottling plants are used in favour of single-use plastic bottles in an effort to not be a contributor of micro plastics to the delicate ecosystems

The resort sources fresh fruit and vegetables locally as well as fresh fish and seafood being provided by local fishermen. This eliminates the need for plastic packaging as it is bought fresh and also eliminates the need for air miles to be used on food at the restaurants on the island.

Informing both employees and guests allows people to directly take care of their environment whilst the resort complies with local conservation policies.

Biodiversity plays an integral role in the ecosystem’s productivity and to protect it Crown and Champa Resorts uses organic fertilisers, environmentally friendly cleaning products, uses indigenous plants for landscaping, plants trees, ensures that invasive alien species are not introduced on the island and participates in local ecological restoration initiatives. Crown and Champa currently has 3 in-house marine biologists across its resorts to ensure that the biodiversity and marine life of the Indian Ocean are thriving. Coral reef preservation is in action and the snorkelling excursions educate guests on this work.

Water conservation is a priority and Crown and Champa Resorts is constantly finding new ways to reduce water consumption. By installing sensors and regulators water use can be reduced and rainwater is collected wherever possible. The use of recycled grey-water for irrigation is a priority and by setting targets to monitor water consumption the island resort can be mindful of what they are using. Desalination plants are installed at each Crown and Champa Resort and both employees and guests are educated on the responsible use of water.

Organic waste is used for composting on the island and solid waste is properly eliminated so that it does not contaminate the natural ecosystems. Purchases are made in bulk to reduce the packaging and when disposed of, waste is compacted to reduce the amount of transport necessary. Recycling and waste separation is also a top priority.

The island has been built in keeping with its natural surroundings in mind and does not want to obstruct the natural beauty of the Maldives, which is why thatched roofs are supplied by locals and the villas have been built using wood from sustainable forests. The designs are designed so that they reflect the tropical surroundings and guests are constantly able to marvel at the natural beauty of the island.
