You could spend a day island hopping, swimming and snorkelling, and spotting local wildlife. Culture

Zanzibar has a wonderfully rich cultural heritage and history, influenced by East African, Indian and Islamic cultures. Discover the island’s historic heart in a cultural tour of the UNESCO Heritage site of Stone Town or learn how Zanzibar earned its name the ‘Spice Island’ in a visit a spice farm. There you can learn more about the plants growing, how they’re cultivated and used, and the role of spice growing in Zanzibar’s history.

Spa and Wellness

Embrace White Sand’s holistic approach to wellbeing and treat yourself to one of their nature-inspired treatments. Whether you fancy a massage, mani-pedi, a hot soak, acupuncture, or facial, you’ll be left feeling revived and relaxed. The resort is also equipped so you can take care of your physical wellbeing as well, with an outdoor fitness centre, swimming pool and bicycles to rent.

Waste and Plastic

Waste management has proven difficult in Zanzibar as there is a little infrastructure to enable businesses to recycle. Therefore, Zanzibar White Sands has partnered with Zanrec to dispose of and recycle waste in an environmentally friendly way. They are also mindful of reducing their plastic use. Drinking water is filtered through a desalination plant to minimise plastic needed for water and have banned plastic straws and single-use plastic packaging.

Pack for a Purpose

Zanzibar White Sands are proud members of Pack for a Purpose, a programme that allows travellers to make a positive impact to the communities they visit, especially to local schools. If guests have a bit of extra room in their luggage they can bring things like stationary, book bags, English and French dictionaries, first aid supplies, children’s toys or reading books.

Eco Initiatives

Zanzibar White Sand has employed a number of eco-friendly initiatives to reduce their impact on the environment and preserve the area’s natural beauty. They have invested in sustainable power alternatives such as photovoltaic panels, solar water heaters and wind turbines. With their own extensive gardens they grow their own organic fruits, vegetables and herbs, reducing plastic use in packaging and pollution in transport. They also participate in regular beach clean-ups; gardeners check and clean the resort’s beach every morning and their staff clean the neighbouring village’s beach every month.

Zanzibar White Sand is an amazing choice for families with children of all ages and children under 3 stay and eat completely free. The resort also offers:
