Tailor Made

Angama Mara

Balanced on the verge of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, between heaven and earth, Angama Mara overlooks the vast plains of the Maasai Mara. This eagerly sought-out destination has everything one could possibly need for a perfect getaway – two separate and intimate camps, with 15 glass-fronted tented suites each, a private airfield and prime access to the Mara, custom-made safari days and all the warmth and hospitality that Kenya is known for. Angama Mara has an evocative power over its visitors, with guests having described a “dreamlike” feeling, a sense immediate connection, or of returning to somewhere they have never been. Reaching 300 metres above the Maasai Mara, Angama hangs in the balance of romantic escapism and authentic safari, nurturing a feeling of being where one is meant to be.

Mahali Mzuri

Mahali Mzuri is a luxury safari camp on the beautiful plains of Kenya, with a front-row seat within the private Olara Motorogi Conservancy. There are just 12 tents on the camp, each with its own expanse of land, so this is the perfect destination for a laid-back and secluded getaway. The camp can cater up to 24 guests at a time. Staying at Mahali Mzuri is a wonderful opportunity to see the Great Wildebeest Migration and other stars of Kenyan wildlife, including lions, giraffes, elephants, zebras, cheetahs and more.

Mara Expedition Camp

Mara Expedition Camp offers a chic, nostalgic and adventurous experience. It is unique to the industry and sits perfectly with the expert hospitality, specialised guiding and design that have become signature to the Great Plains Conservation. Guests visiting here will get the best of both safari worlds – the vibrant Maasai Mara ecosystem and the more private 70,000-acre Mara North Conservancy. The core of the camp’s ethos is the learning from and respecting of nature, where the Maasai Mara itself is the teacher. Unlike some other locations, there is a higher density of predators in the area so there is a constant reminder that the wilderness is not ours and must be respected at all times.

Ol Seki Hemingways Mara

Ol Seki Hemingways Mara is a stunning private tented camp, an enclave of luxury in the terrain of Kenya away from mass tourism. Enjoy gorgeous panoramic views of the wilderness teeming with game on the Naboisho Conservancy. There’s no such thing as a typical day at Ol Seki Hemingways Mara – every day is tailored to personally suit its guests so that they can make the most of their time there. It’s an ideal getaway for honeymooners and anyone looking to indulge themselves in elegance, luxury and and rich abundance of wildlife. Ol Seki Hemingways Mara is partners with the Naboisho Conservancy, in which it resides, and this offers guests the opportunity to explore the area as well as the Maasai Mara National Park, which is adjacent to the conservancy. Since entry is limited to those actually staying inside the area, guests are offered an incredibly private and exclusive safari experience.

Governors’ Il Moran Camp

Il Moran is often considered to be the premiere camp of the Maasai Mara, with beautiful scenery, rich culture and the best wildlife viewing at your fingertips. Small and peaceful, it’s a fantastic destination for honeymooners, couples and those who are searching for a special and eco-conscious adventure. Il Moran Camp resides in the forest shade mirroring the flow of the Mara River, where hippos wallow happily. Recently refurbished in 2018, this Silver Eco award-winning camp is ideal for those seeking a little extra luxury. Il Moran has been kept small to hold on to that cosy intimate feel, with just 10 canvas tents hidden under the ancient trees, lining the winding banks of the Mara River

Richard’s Camp

Richard’s River Camp was initially established as owners Richard and Liz’s “home from home” in 2006 but Richard’s family have lived in Kenya since the late 1940s and his father was involved in forming the Ol Choro Oiroua Conservancy, which was where Richard grew up from the age of 3. On her various travels, Liz has brought back beautiful fabrics and furniture to decorate the camp, really giving that personal touch that’ll make guests feel right at home. The Camp offers a luxury camp experience in the heart of the Maasai Mara. With just 7 tents, it’s a prime location for those with privacy and peace and quiet in mind. A permanent water supply is provided by the Ngoyanai springs, attracting cohorts of animals to the camp’s surroundings. The River Camp is newer than its sister location, the Forest Camp, promising facilities that are more modern and contemporary.

Little Governors’ Camp

Little Governors’ Camp is an intimate setting that has won the hearts of its guests time and time again, with arguably the best safari atmosphere of all the Governors’ Camps. The camp can only be reached by boat and a forest walk, and animals, including a resident warthog family can roam freely, so that guests are truly removed from civilisation is never in question. The 17 recently renovated guest tents are tucked away on the forest’s edge overlooking the much visited watering hole, bringing the wilds right to your door. The experience at Governors’ Private Camp is founded on tranquillity, intimacy and a connection with nature. Its wonderful location made it the top choice for the BBC’s “Big Cat Diaries” filming and remains a prime spot to witness Big Cats to this day, with really high chances of seeing lions, leopards and cheetahs.

Governors’ Private Camp

One might regard Governors’ Private Camp as the jewel in the Collection’s crown, and with good reason. Picked on a pristine spot by the Mara River where animals come to drink and take cooling dips, a sublime safari adventure awaits. A personalised experience is the trademark of Governors’ Private Camp with a warm and friendly team on hand to see to your every need. The whole camp can be exclusively booked for a large family or travelling party and so is perfect for a cosy group setting away from the clamour of more crowded destinations. Governors’ Private Camp is a much sought out location by tourists and wildlife alike, a place where two worlds converge.

Rekero Camp

Rekero is a traditional and romantic tented camp deep within the Maasai Mara National Reserve. From the north banks of the Talek River, Rekero boasts splendid views of the Great Migration herds making their river crossing, but there’s plenty of wildlife to see no matter when you visit! Commonly sighted animals on and around the camp have included elephants, buffalo, cheetahs, hippos, giraffes, lions, serval, caracal, and gazelle. Visitors need not even leave their tents to relish the full experience of the animal kingdom that the Reserve has to offer. The camp’s 9 chic tents are also mindfully placed above the river, perching in the balance between tranquil privacy and communal hospitality.

Naibor Tented Camp

Naibor Camp is nestled in a small, peaceful stretch of woodland on the banks of the Talek River, where you can forget all about the hubbub of modern urban life. Here, there’s just you and the untainted wilderness. Naibor is made up of three interlaced tented camps, (Main) Naibor Camp, Little Naibor and Naibor Wilderness. Each has their own styles and perks that can accommodate a variety of budgets, while still maintaining the Naibor trademark combo of luxury and tasteful elegance. Both Little Naibor and Naibor Wilderness can be booked on an exclusive basis to allow for a more intimate and personal safari experience.
