Naankuse Lodge

The property has six chalets in total, each lavish and providing a beautiful view that overlooks the bushveld. Boasting large twin beds for extra comfort, air conditioning is also included due to the naturally hot location. Ensuite bathrooms are also provided as is a private veranda to admire the stunning views of the property. Other amenities include a refrigerator, desk, safe, electric kettle and a hairdryer. Complimentary toiletries are also included as is a fireplace and a private balcony.

Located near the main lodge are the sixteen villas. Each have their own plot as well as a luxury fitted kitchen and lounge area for evenings in and nights entertaining. Guests will be able to enjoy fresh meals at the nearby lodge as well as have access to the swimming pool and bar. The lodge can even deliver dinner straight to the villa should you wish to dine in complete comfort and privacy or you can cater for yourself and your family due to the kitchen provided. Naankuse Lodge is able to cater for any occasion, offering guests beautiful breakfasts, picnic options and decadent sit-down dinners that come along with cocktails and canapés. Guests can also enjoy BBQ’s at the lodge should they wish to do so. The lodge is also home to its very own fully licensed bar with a wide variety of options to choose from. Staff are also on hand to help out and ensure that every need is met.

Guests at Naankuse lodge can participate in a two-hour horse ride through the bush, taking in the stunning surroundings. Both intermediate and advanced riders are welcome to experience this activity and the chance to observe the wild game closer than ever before.

Guided nature walks are an excellent way to experience the beauty of the bush veldt. This five kilometre guided walk takes guests on the Naankuse Reserve, allowing visitors to observe the stunning views, flora and fauna as well as the creatures that call this area their home.

Guests will be able to join experienced guides feed wild animals such as lions, caracals and African wild dogs and listen to their stories whilst doing so.

Guests at Naankuse have the opportunity to take a number of excursions into the bush with experienced guides, witnessing magnificent creatures up close and personal. A caracal experience will take you to see how the animals behave in the wild and you will stalk birds and small mammals as they regain their natural instincts and hone in on their hunting skills. The Cheetah Experience allows guests to enjoy time with habituated big cats whilst in the presence of an experienced guide to teach you about these amazing creatures. The Baboon Experience allows guests to interact and bond with the animals through the bush on their daily walks. These are moments not to be missed when staying at the lodge.

The Naankuse Lodge operates under a not-for-profit policy, meaning that every penny goes back into funding wildlife conservation.

The Naankuse Foundation Wildlife Sanctuary invites people to become a wildlife volunteer, caring for cheetahs, leopards, lions and African wild dogs. This programme works to keep Namibia’s wildlife as safe as possible for the animals that roam freely there.

Originating as a small wildlife sanctuary, the programme has grown and is now known worldwide for the work that it does in regards to conservation. It provides a safe haven for injured and orphaned animals and the aim of this sanctuary is to rehabilitate and release the animals back into their natural habitat. Only those too weak to return to the wild stay at the sanctuary and people can volunteer to help the foundation continue to care for the animals at Naankuse.

Volunteers come from all types of backgrounds and participate in a number of activities that are hands on. These include preparing food, feeding animals, caring for young wildlife, cleaning the enclosures, physical labour such as aiding in building facilities as well as researching and tracking.

Medical volunteering is a programme that allows The Naankuse Foundation to care for more than 3,500 patients every year – through both clinic-based healthcare as well outreach around the area. The volunteering programme is a lifeline for thousands of San Bushmen tackling tuberculosis. Other tasks that volunteers can contribute to requires more than just medical skills. IT, DIY and painting are all highly valued skills necessary to keep the clinic running smoothly.

TB, HIV and alcoholism are all prevalent in the community as well as a host of other issues among child patients such as dehydration, malnutrition and fungal infections. Volunteers who work alongside the clinic’s doctors and nurses will learn about the common diseases within the area and help to treat them. They will also give care to patients living in extreme poverty and expect teaching on basic clinical skills.

School volunteering is a programme that makes a positive impact on the local San Bushman children. Located at the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary, both nature and education are combined. Children are taught new skills such as arts, crafts, music and dance. Those who volunteer will assist the students as well as help with cleaning up of the school itself. The aim of the Clever Cubs School where this programme is hosted is to provide an education to children who have historically been denied such an opportunity.

The Naansuke Foundation Wildlife Sanctuary is a world-famous conservation organisation, known for the vital work it does with countless injured animals in the Namibian bush. ‘Returning the wild to the wild’ is their mantra and this forms the backbone of all of the ongoing projects at the sanctuary. It provides a safe haven for injured and orphaned animals with the aim of releasing them back into their natural habitat. Only animals that are too injured remain at the sanctuary for their safety and survival rates.

Orphaned animals are raised with incredible dedication, creating an environment that encourages their natural behaviours. The sanctuary homes a variety of animals such as baboons, meerkats, mongooses, leopard, cheetahs as well as feathered and scaled animals.

The lodge has been crafted from ecologically clean materials that include solid logs and glass to compliment the wilderness setting. It allows the lodge itself to blend into its surroundings and not obstruct the area.
