The spacious Classic Rooms at Steenberg Hotel are positioned either upstairs where they are tucked into the eaves, or downstairs in the barn and Manor House. Each of the classic rooms consists of a large double bed with extra plush pillows and comfy bedding, bedside tables, comfy armchairs and plentiful wardrobe space.

The elegant furnishings complement the dark timber and white colour scheme, and the large windows create a light and airy atmosphere for you to relax in. Each bedroom leads to its own en-suite bathroom with a large vanity, flush toilet and relaxing bathtub.

The Superior Rooms feature high ceilings and plenty of extra space for relaxing in this luxurious setting. The large windows offer incredible views of the surrounding wine farm, and allow plenty of light into the room, as well as a natural airflow. The small lounge area provides a comfy space for conversation or curling up with a book and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.

Guests can enjoy admiring the unique artworks in each room, with refreshments and fine South African wines. The cosy king-size beds are comfortable and feature additional pillows and blankets for snuggling up, and the bedroom leads to a private en-suite bathroom with twin basins, a large bathtub and a walk-in shower.

The Family Room features two adjoining bedrooms; a master bedroom with a king-size bed and plenty of space for resting and relaxation, and a second smaller with two twin beds – ideal for children. The master bedroom consists of a TV area with comfy seating, soft rugs and a door to the outside private patio.

The children’s room is a cosy space with reading lamps for low-level lighting at nighttime and plush cushions. There is a shared luxury bathroom with twin basins, a spacious tub and a walk-in shower.

The premier rooms offer exquisite mountain and vineyard views which can be enjoyed from the comfort of your private terrace, where guests can enjoy delicious meals or lie back on comfy sun loungers and enjoy the sunshine. The bathrooms are modern and consist of roomy showers, a bathtub, basin and heated towel rails.

Steenberg Hotel features 3 one-bedroom suites, each with their own unique charm. Jonkershuis Suite consists of high ceilings, extra spacious rooms and the kitchenette and lounge open onto its garden terrace. The bedroom and bathroom are both positioned upstairs where guests can enjoy elevated views over the vineyard and gardens.

The Premier Suite is north-facing with a double-length terrace that offers views of the valley that stretch to the Table Mountain Range. A screen of greenery offers the terrace privacy from other guests and creates a tranquil space for relaxing and admiring the natural beauty of Constantia.

The Manor House Suite offers a spacious bedroom and lobby which are both furnished with stunning antiques that give the suite a classic and refined style. The suite includes a sweeping terrace with lawn and garden views.

The Two-Bedroom Villa features your own fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable dining area, entertainment area and luxurious lounge. Both of the bedrooms are furnished with plush king-size beds, warm lighting and bedside tables. Armchairs are included, but guests can also choose to stretch out of the lounge’s comfy sofas.

The main bathroom is spacious with a gigantic walk-in shower and a huge round bathtub. Warm and fluffy towels are stored on a heated rail, and there is an additional water closet with a modern design to avoid any long waits. The villa is accompanied by a vast patio that runs along the length of the building. From here, guests can enjoy the incredible vineyard views, and take a refreshing dip in the private swimming pool.

The Three-Bedroom Villa is an elegant structure which overlooks the vast outdoor space and offers incredible vineyard views from the extended pool terrace. The villa’s private patio leads to a sweeping lawn framed by beautiful indigenous flowers.

The three-bedroom villa is perfect for families, consisting of plenty of space for guests to spend quality time together, three spacious bathrooms with round tubs and modern walk-in showers. Each room features a sprawling king-size bed, warm lighting, and comfy furnishings that are adorned by delicate plants and flowers. A cot and extra bed can be added to the villa at no extra cost.

The large living room is filled with plush sofas, armchairs and daybeds where guests can lie back and relax. This homely room leads to the villa’s innovative compact kitchenette which packs away into two cupboard spaces.

Named in honour of Steenberg’s 17th-century founder, Catharina Ras (Tryn), this restaurant offers a range of culinary delights, crafted by Chef Kerry and her team. The menu features a range of dishes prepared using fresh ingredients and Asian and Middle Eastern twists to create unique yet comforting flavours.

Tryn is decorated with a rich interior, featuring ruby and jade walls and soft furnishings for an elegant and luxurious dining space. The restaurant includes private dining areas and the bar is fully stocked with an array of refreshing drinks and cocktails.

Bistro Sixteen82 is a relaxed tapas bar that focuses on seasonal dishes made from locally grown and sourced ingredients. The bistro opened in 2009, and has been home to the culinary skills of Chef Kerry Kilpin ever since.

Adjacent to Steenberg’s winery, Bistro Sixteen82 leads out to the ground’s beautiful indigenous gardens, with a charming terraced dining area that overlooks the reflective water features. Here, diners can admire the astonishing Table Mountain Range and the farm’s sweeping vineyard. Bistro Sixteen82 has been awarded a place in the Top 20 list of the World’s Best Winery Restaurants by Canada’s renowned Wine Access magazine.

Steenberg Wine Estate offers guests a selection of wine tasting experiences where you can enjoy the local flavours of Steenberg’s wines. Grab a glass and sit back with stunning vineyard views while you taste the amazing wines produced on the farm.

The Steenberg Golf Estate and private club rest in the verdant Constantia Valley, and is a full 18-hole course which uses the landscape’s natural features such as the vineyards, pine forests and waterways to create a more challenging course. The course features a refurbished clubhouse where guests can relax after a fun game and enjoy the scenic views of the indigenous trees and shrubs, and flowing lawns that stretch to the towering mountain range in the distance.

The 14th hole features the largest green in Africa which spans 76 meters in length. The Golf Club is open to the public, but guests and members are given priority. There are Members Only Competition Days on Wednesday afternoons, Saturdays and the 1st Sunday afternoon of each month.

The Norval Foundation is a hub of artistic expression that houses a range of 20th and 21st-century artworks from South Africa. The exhibition and research centre lies within the Steenberg area of Cape Town, with stunning views of Table Mountain National Park. The Norval Foundation blends both the appreciation of the natural world with cultural expressions in a visual form.

The foundation aims to create high-quality exhibitions and raise public awareness of the arts. Guests can also visit the Sculpture Garden, outdoor amphitheatre, purpose-built exhibition spaces and Skotnes Restaurant and Bar. At the end of your stay, you can stop off at the bespoke shop and children can enjoy a trip to the site’s playground. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens lies beside the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. The gardens include a variety of both temporary and permanent outdoor art pieces. Travellers can enjoy a peaceful stroll between the beautiful fynbos plants, which are unique to the Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces of South Africa, and wander along the walkway which leads to the breathtaking canopy where guests can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the surrounding natural landscape and dense greenery. The curved steel and timber bridge is inspired by the skeleton of a snake and is referred to as the Boomslang, meaning tree snake.

Boulders Beach is one of Cape Town’s most popular beaches and the only place in the world where travellers can get close to the adorable African Penguins. The beach takes its name from the large granite boulders that protect the beach from stormy weather and large waves. It is home to between 2,000 and 3,000 African Penguins, which are an endangered species due to overfishing, habitat destruction, and pollution.

The beach is now part of the Table Mountain National Park and the birds reside within a protected area. Nearly 60,000 visitors come to the beach each year, and three wheelchair-friendly boardwalks have been installed to allow ease of access to guests with disabilities. The area is rich with vegetation which offers a safe space for the nesting penguins and their chicks.

Table Mountain is one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, and the only one that exists alongside an urban area, allowing guests to easily reach it and enjoy the incredible hikes and views that Table Mountain has to offer.

In December 2012, Table Mountain received a plaque revealing its status as a wonder of nature. This was followed by a huge celebration where a giant rotating Table Mountain float was paraded through the streets of Cape Town.

Take a relaxing hike through the many scenes of natural beauty that Cape Town has to offer. The Steenberg Walking Trail is a gentle walk that loops back to the hotel. Wander past a historic graveyard, vast vineyards, and Steenberg’s winery, and enjoy views from the scenic dam.

Guests can also enjoy hikes from Constantia Nek to the Hout Bay Beach where impressive views of natural beauty can be soaked in, or along the Cecilia Forest beside the small streams and under the refreshing shade of the forest trees. Additionally, guests can hike up Lion’s Head and Table Mountain and experience panoramic views of Cape Town and the distant Atlantic ocean.

The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is one of South Africa’s most visited destinations, bringing in approximately 24 million people each year. Resting in the Southern Hemisphere’s oldest working harbour, guests can enjoy incredible views of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the picturesque city of Cape Town.

The waterfront features a range of shops, restaurants, leisure and entertainment facilities. The waterfront’s range of heritage sites and tourism landmarks offer a full day of activities and the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa hosts the world’s largest collection of African contemporary art.

Robben Island is a historical site that demonstrates South Africa’s rich and multi-layered history. Guests can reach the island from Murray’s Bay Harbour which is situated on the east coast of the island, and the buses can take guests all around the historical sites. The bus route passes the high wall built by prisoners during the 1960s, the buildings that families and lawyers used when visiting the prisoners.

The tour route also includes the island’s graveyard where people were laid to rest after succumbing to leprosy, the lime and bluestone quarries, Robert Sobukwe’s house, the army and the navy bunkers, and the Maximum Security Prison where thousands of South Africa’s freedom fighters were incarcerated, including Nelson Mandela before he became the country’s president.

Guests can also view the claustrophobic cell that Mandela was imprisoned in for 18 years of his 27-year incarceration.

Steenberg has implemented a number of water-saving initiatives including the installation of 6 water meters on the estate which monitor the hotel’s water consumption and helps to identify any leaks on the premises by giving an update every 15 minutes.

The hotel also harvests rainwater from the cellar roof which is used to flush guests toilets in the tasting room and Bistro Sixteen82, and has converted old wine tanks into a 5-stage filtration water reservoir to provide clean and safe drinking water. The pools in front of the tasting room are topped up with filtered dam water, which is also used for the garden’s irrigation system.

The swimming pool at Steenberg Hotel is covered unless guests want to swim in order to prevent water loss, except for when it rains in order to refill the pool in a sustainable way. The Hotel’s spa doesn’t use a steam room or bath treatments in order to conserve water, and the car wash and valet service use a waterless car washing system.

Steenberg Hotel is also in the process of changing the basin and shower-heads to water-saving restrictors, and they use a water and environmentally friendly laundry service. Additionally, they are currently installing a borehole which will drastically reduce their municipal water consumption.
