Travelling with Children In the Caribbean

Travelling with children can be incredibly hard work. I would know, I was a child whose parents loved to travel and I can confirm that I was hard work. Finding a place to stay with the right amenities and facilities to cater to children can be of the utmost importance to ensure your holiday goes as smoothly as possible. You want to stay somewhere that doesn’t just accommodate children, but actively welcomes them. Kids’ clubs, children’s menus, shallow pools, and interconnecting rooms all make holidaying with children easier and more enjoyable for both you and your children.

Cap Juluca - Anguilla

Hidden away in a secluded corner of Maundays Bay in Anguilla is Cap Juluca, a five-star resort perfect for families – it has a kids’ club, babysitting services, and facilities for children. Not every parent feels comfortable letting their children sleep in a separate room to them when on holiday and interconnecting rooms can be the answer to this problem. With a connecting door between rooms, you can keep an eye on your little ones without leaving your bed.

Cap Juluca also offers a babysitting service that you can make use of when you want to have an evening to yourself wining and dining. If you want to escape during the day, perhaps for a massage or a trip without your children, then the Explorer’s club is open to children aged 4 to 12 and has a schedule packed with exciting activities to keep them busy. Treasure hunts, beach games, water sports, and sustainable arts and crafts are all on offer to your children at the Explorer’s Club.

The activities at Cap Juluca are all family-friendly and the whole family can have fun going kayaking, sailing, snorkelling, or even going on a nature walk – don’t forget to bring water. Of course, you can always spend the days in the pool or out at the beach – building sandcastles will always keep children amused. The perfect end to the day is found in the children’s menus which make sure your child always has something they love to eat.

Carlisle Bay Resort – Antigua

Hidden away in a horseshoe bay on the South Western shore of Antigua is the sophisticated Carlisle Bay Resort. This stunning resort is home to the Cool Kids Club, a brilliant club run by qualified childcare professionals who want to ensure your children have the best experience they possibly can while on holiday. All ages are welcome from toddlers to early teens and the Cool Kids Club organises fun activities for all including water sports, tennis on one of the nine courts, movies in the movie room, and more!

Kids aged 6 months to 6 years go into the Cool Kids Club, then they move into Crew Blue, and older kids and early teens will find their fun in the Crush Programme. This means each year you return, there will always be a place for your children to rush off to and make new friends. Carlisle Bay Resort has suites that can accommodate the whole family, meaning you don’t have to worry about your little ones sleeping in a different room. You can keep an eye on them from within the suite and sleep soundly knowing they’re safe.

Curtain Bluff – Antigua

Perched on a rocky cliff in Southern Antigua, Curtain Bluff is a tranquil resort with brilliant facilities for families. Hidden away beneath the resort’s shady palms is the Cee Bee Kids Camp that hosts fun-filled daily activities from 9 am to 4 pm. Your kids can spend time making jewellery, designing t-shirts, decorating cookies, watching movies and so much more! The schedule for the Cee Bee Camp is packed full of activities but also gives some free time for your kids to spend with their new friends. For children who never stop moving there’s a sandbox and jungle gym that they can expend their energy on, as well as a court for games like basketball and tennis.

The Cee Bee Kids Camp is also home to a widescreen TV and a game room filled with a range of board games and computer games. To top it all off, Curtain Bluff offers family-friendly early dinners at 6 pm so you can get the kids tucked into bed before sneaking off to have a relaxing dinner or evening alone. If you don’t feel comfortable leaving your little ones alone in the room, then a babysitting service is available for hire to keep your children safe and comfortable while you’re out.

Divi and Tamarijn Aruba

On the white sands of Aruba sit these two sister hotels that share a number of brilliant facilities and a kids’ club. When you stay at either hotel your children can go for an adventure at the Sea Turtles Kids’ Club, located at Tamarijn Aruba. The club is ready to host children aged 4 to 12 and guide them through a day of entertaining activities including face painting, arts and crafts, watching movies, bingo, and t-shirt dyeing. Your children also have the opportunity to go to the beach and pools with the other children in the club to take part in games!

The Sea Turtle Club offers a kids’ menu where your children will find a selection of food they’re sure to enjoy from chicken tenders to hamburgers. When you want to spend time with your children, both Divi and Tamarijn Aruba have a range of activities that you can try as a family, like volleyball, basketball, kayaking, snorkelling, and taking a trip on a catamaran. If your kids are particularly adventurous, you might want to take them to the 30’ rock climbing wall and let them see how high they can climb.

Since the wall is right on the beach, the view from the top of the wall is amazing – maybe you can try it too! If you have younger kids, cots are available at request to put in your room and give them a perfect place to slumber at night.

Grand Isle Resort – Bahamas

On a pristine stretch of sand in Emerald Bay, Grand Isle resort awaits you and your family. Villas with multiple bedrooms are available at this luxurious resort, providing an ideal space for you and your children to chill out and rest after a long day on the beach. Your kids are welcome to visit the Hummingbird Hut from 10 am to 3 pm where the Hummingbird Hut members will guide them through a day of fun activities.

From treasure hunts to exploring the crystal clear water by kayak or a stand-up paddle, there’s always an exciting adventure just around the corner for your children. After a busy day in the sun, Grand Isle resort makes it easy for your child to find something they enjoy eating at every meal by providing childrens’ menus offering classics such as fish fingers, spaghetti, and the ever-popular mac and cheese.

It’s important to know what facilities a hotel has before you go, especially if the whole family is going. A kids’ club and activities designed for children will make your holiday run smoothly for both you and your children. These resorts all have facilities that ensure your children will be kept happy and entertained while on holiday. And as anyone with children would know – a happy child means a peaceful holiday.

“Finding a hotel that has facilities for kids really does make a difference to you and your children. Picky eaters feel safe with a kids’ menu and the kids’ clubs always give them something fun to do with other children. Some of my best holiday memories come from the kids’ clubs of hotels I stayed at as a child. When I was eight years old, these would have been the places I would have loved staying at. ”
